The Hanover Area Diversity Alliance (HADA) is organizing a new event to celebrate the people of York County. The South Central PA PeopleFest, a celebration of cultures, will take place on Friday, May 16th, and Saturday, May 17th at the Codorus State Park pool recreation area.

7pm Kickoff on Friday, 5/16 with a Motown Get-Down concert featuring N A’Chord, a Baltimore based retro band

The main event will begin at 10am on Saturday, 5/17 and continue until 5pm. The stage will feature a variety of music and dance performances including Cor Rehoboth, the Chinese Cultural and Arts Institute of Harrisburg, York’s own Dwennimen African Dance Company, Lancaster’s Pasion Tropical, and the Susquehanna Travellers. Also on the green, the Gray Cloud Singers will be hosting a traditional Powwow with Native drummers and dancers from several tribes and clans competing for prizes.

Feats of strength will be on display as local competitors test their skill at some traditional Highland Games such as the caber toss, hammer throw, and even tug-o-war. There will also be some ethnic foods to tempt the palate and plenty of things to buy in the vendor area.
