Scott and Kim in the Morning

November 11, 2024

The holidays are nearly upon us. I know, it’s hard to believe but Thanksgiving is almost here. If you’re hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year, you may want to serve one or more of these dishes. According to a new survey by Campbell’s, the top five Thanksgiving side dishes are: 1. stuffing; 2. mashed potatoes; 3. sweet potatoes; 4. green bean casserole; 5. mac and cheese. All 5 are pretty standard Thanksgiving fare. According to the survey, our favorite Thanksgiving dessert is pumpkin pie. That’s followed by apple and pecan pie. Turkey was the overwhelming favorite main dish. 88% of people surveyed say they prefer turkey over ham on Thanksgiving. Whatever your plans are this holiday season, we hope you’re blessed

September 23, 2024

Fall is now officially here and with it, one of our most popular contests is back! Yes, I’m talking about the Froggy Big Money Mystery Ribbit. We play 4 times each weekday. When you hear the ribbit during the play time, if you think you know who that country music artist is, give us a call (717-633-1077) and you could win our cash jackpot. All cash winners are eligible to win our grand prize. The grand prize is a trip to Nashville to see Eric Church at his bar Chiefs. I think we love this contest as much as you!

I’m trying to figure out my Halloween costume this year. Last year, I was a witch (I know, appropriate) so I can’t do that again. If you have any good suggestions, I’d love to hear them. 🙂 In the meantime, have a great fall season and keep listening for the ribbit!

September 3, 2024

Are we in fall mode yet? Though fall doesn’t technically arrive until Sunday, September 22nd, after Labor Day. it just seems like we are ready to begin the pumpkin season. Maybe that has something to do with school being back in session OR maybe it’s the start of football. I know this past weekend, I watched a bunch of college games. I hate to see summer go but I do love football so that’s a bit of a consolation. Even though I think fall is too short (it is), there is much to look forward to in September. Football is the biggie for me but there is still baseball action. The Phillies and Orioles both appear to be in good shape for the playoffs next month so that’s exciting. If you’re not a sports fan, there’s plenty for you as well. Get ready for the return of a ton of TV shows including The Voice, America’s Got Talent, Dancing with the Stars and Grey’s Anatomy. “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” is in theaters this month as well as other big budget movies. Beer Lover’s Day is on the 7th, Stand Up to Cancer Day is September 13th and the 29th is National Coffee Day. So as sad as I am to see summer go… bring on the pumpkins, bonfires, hayrides and hoodies. Happy (unofficial) welcome to fall.

August 19, 2024

It’s back to school week for many area schools. I can’t believe it is back to school time, yet here we are. Just a friendly reminder that school buses are back on the road. Be on the lookout because we want everyone, kids and motorists, to be safe. Even though the back to school needs of students have changed dramatically over the years, a recent survey has indicated that three quarters of households still purchase traditional school supplies. After clothes and shoes, the top back to school purchases parents buy are pens and pencils, notebooks, folders and binders and backpacks. Hopefully by now all your back to school shopping is done and your kids have a happy, healthy and successful school year. Good luck to all our Froggy students, parents and teachers.

August 1, 2024

Summer can slow down now. It’s truly been a blur. I guess that means we’re having fun. Thank you to all who came out to this year’s York State Fair. It was a blast! I ran into some folks the other day at the store and they were back to school shopping. I guess it is that time of year but it was a reality check that summer is moving along at warp speed. If you’re getting ready to dip your toes back into the back to school shopping pool, a recent survey found it costs parents an average of $586 per child. Parents spend the most on clothes and accessories. Tech is next, things like computers and tablets. School supplies are third. Summer isn’t over yet though so enjoy every minute. I’m hanging on as long as I can. Happy August and go USA!

July 8, 2024

Summer can slow down now. It’s been a blur for me. I guess if you think about it, that’s a good thing. It means you’re having fun, which I try to do. I’ve been so fortunate to take a weeklong trip to the beach and I’ve been to many Orioles games this year. I love going to the ballpark. I’m really looking forward to this year’s York State Fair. Besides all the great acts on the grandstand, our Froggy stage is stacked this year. I’m not sure who I’m most excited to see. Maybe George Birge? Ashley Cooke will put on a great show too, I believe. The guitar pull on the 22nd should be a blast. I may be biased but I think all our performers this year are top notch. Who are you most excited to see? We sure to hope to see you at the fair this year. Whatever you’re doing this summer, I hope you’re enjoying yourself and stay cool.

May 28, 2024

It’s so hard to believe but our own Larry Rhoten is celebrating a milestone birthday this summer. Yes! Larry is turning 80!!! And he’s still working and enjoying every minute. We are honoring Larry and celebrating this special day July 15th with, what else, a huge party. The Scott & Kim Birthday Bonanza starring Larry is set and we would love for you to be there. We’ll have special guests, on-air segments from over the years, memorable Larry moments (and there’s lots of them), games and many door prizes. Nashville recording artist Chase Matthew will also be performing. The only way to get into Larry’s party is to win. Be listening each weekday morning for your chance to win a 4 pack of tickets. We’re giving away tickets each hour in the morning show during the 6, 7, 8 and 9 o’clock hours. A big thank you to our sponsors who are making this awesome event possible… All Trans Truck and Trailer Service, Production Express, McClarin Composites, Scott and Company Fine Jewelers, and Foster Roofing! We hope to see you July 15th!

May 1, 2024

What a great time of the year. We start May off with some great weather. We have so much to look forward to this month, including the announcement of the line up for this year’s Froggy Stage at the York State fair. If you’re a sports fan, the NBA and NHL playoffs continue. The Kentucky Derby is this Saturday and the Preakness is May 18th. The PGA Championship starts May 16th and the Indy 500 is May 26th. If you’re an Orioles or Phillies fan, you are certainly enjoying the MLB season so far.

In movies… Jerry Seinfeld’s Pop-Tart flick “Unfrosted” hits Netflix and “The Fall Guy” hits theaters. On TV, Bridgerton returns on the 16th and America’s Got Talent is back on the 28th.

And finally, the holidays! The big ones are Cinco De Mayo this Sunday, Mother’s Day on the 12th and Memorial Day on the 27th. Enjoy May!

April 1, 2024

April showers bring May flowers. We sure should see lots of flowers next month if the next few days are any indication. We have lots of rain in the forecast.  In spite of the weather, there is plenty to look forward to in April. It’s actually one of the best months of the year for sports fans. Both the men’s and women’s final four in college basketball take place early this month.  MLB and NASCAR are underway. The Masters is set to begin April 11th. The NBA Playoffs start the 20th. The Stanley Cup Playoffs begin on the 22nd and the NFL Draft kicks off April 25th.

In theaters… the new “Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead remake lands April 12th. “Sasquatch Sunset” with Jesse Eisenberg and Riley Keough (Elvis’ granddaughter) opens the 19th.

There are plenty of holidays to celebrate as well. The big one is Passover which runs from the 22nd through the 30th. But we also have National Beer Day on April 7th, National Pet Day is the 11th. Earth Day is recognized on the 22nd and Arbor Day is the 26th. Welcome April!

March 18, 2024

Woo Hoo…It’s the last full day of winter warm weather fans.  Are you excited?  It’s also March Madness time.  Even many non basketball fans get caught up in bracket mania this time of year.  A recent survey shows basketball fans will spend a total of 36 hours consumed by March Madness this year with 59% of people believing their favorite team has a shot at the final four.  Four in ten people are planning to place bets on the tournament this year.  For sports lovers, it’s a big deal.  Speaking of big deals, just a reminder that tax time is coming up.  The deadline for filing is less than one month away.  Of course, if you’re getting a big refund, you’ve probably already filed.  I don’t blame you.  As always, we thank you for listening and we’re looking forward to a wonderful spring.  Look for us on the road soon!

March 5, 2024

Was the groundhog right?! Could winter be over? I don’t want to jinx us spring/summer lovers but February was warmer than normal and March has started out the same way. We will take it. NASCAR season is underway and Larry is one happy guy. We’re also looking forward to baseball season. Our O’s are looking good in spring training. We have much to look forward to in the coming months. Speaking of looking forward, how about Davy Crockett and his well earned retirement? We certainly will miss him but he deserves to enjoy life and do some things he couldn’t do until now. I know he’s looking forward to some traveling. We wish him nothing but happiness. “The Big Splash” is in good hands going forward with Brooke. She’s got some fun new features for you on your ride home. Catch Brooke and “The Big Splash” weekdays from 2-7 pm. As always, thank you for being a HUGE part of Froggy 107.7!

February 12, 2024

Scott always says January 2nd is the worst day of the year.  For me, today  (February 12th), rivals January 2nd.  Football season is over and winter is still here. Y’all know I’m not a winter person. Though I really can’t complain this year. It hasn’t been a horrible winter (yet). I feel like after football season wraps, it’s a couple of months of nothingness until spring arrives. Maybe that just indicates that I’m too wrapped up in sports. The good news is we have lots of fun and exciting things coming up on Froggy, so you’ll want to stay tuned. So I’ll take comfort in the Froggy fun and look forward to spring…and baseball. Go O’s!

January 2, 2024

Welcome to 2024!  Another year is in the books.  Are you experiencing a holiday hangover? If so, you’re not alone.  About 25% of people admit to feeling blue just after the holidays. Scott always calls January 2nd the worst day of the year (Haha).  Thanks to one of our listeners (thank you Jeanne) we realized 2024 is a leap year.  We have lots of good things planned for the upcoming year.  We will do our best to make this the best year yet.  Keep listening to Froggy to hear all about what’s ahead for you in 2024.  We hope you have a very happy new year and thank you for being part of our Froggy family.

November 27, 2023

It’s getting colder. If I am being honest, I’m not looking forward to winter. Now, if you know me at all, you already know this information. I have tried to pull back on my winter complaining the past couple of years but I can’t go cold turkey. Haha. I think for me, the worst part is, I can never get my hands and feet warm. I know, it sounds so trivial, but it’s so darn annoying always having frozen feet and hands. I do apologize to those with real problems. Moving on, It’s the holiday season. I hope it’s a happy time of year for you. It’s not a happy time for everyone though. If you know someone who may be having a hard time, or someone who has recently lost someone, or someone who may just be lonely. why not reach out. It could be something as simple as a text or phone call. You never know what kind of positive impact you could have on someone’s life. My wish for you this holiday season is health and happiness for you and your family. Thank you for always supporting us and being part of our Froggy family.

November 9, 2023

I’m so disappointed the leaves are already falling off the trees. If there is one complaint I have about fall, it’s that it is too darn short! I am itching to put up my Christmas tree. Now listen, I know what you’re going to say… TOO EARLY. People tell me that every year and every year, I still put it up early. Haha. I want to enjoy it as long as possible. There’s nothing better than on a cold day snuggling under the blanket on the couch watching a great movie with all the beautiful lights on around you. I’m also one of those people that takes the tree down right after Christmas. I’m not as bad as Larry though. He’s been known to take his tree down on Christmas night. I at least wait a day or two. And speaking of the Christmas season, don’t forget Jingle Bell Jam is quickly approaching. It’s less than a month away. JBJ is December 6th this year. Randy Houser is our headliner. Tickets are a very reasonable – 20 bucks! You can get them at yorkstatefair.com We hope to see you there!

October 5, 2023

If you’re a sports fan, what a great time!  The MLB playoffs are underway.  Both O’s and Phillies fans are pumped.  The NFL and college football seasons are also in full swing.  Fall is such a great time of year.  We certainly don’t want to rush the season along but we do want to remind you our annual Jingle Bell Jam is set and the lineup is great!  Randy Houser is headlining the event at UPMC Arena at the York Fairgrounds on December 6th.  He’ll be joined by Kimberly Perry of The Band Perry and American Idol runner-up Hunter Girl.  Tickets are just $20 and are on sale now at YorkStateFair.com  We hope to see you there!  Another reminder…We have a brand new Instagram page so if you haven’t followed us yet, check it out.  Just search for scottandkimonfroggy (all one word) and hit the follow button.  Thank you in advance and enjoy this fall weather. Go O’s (and Phillies too)!

September 5, 2023

Well, there you go… In the blink of an eye, the unofficial end of summer has come. Scott calls this one of the saddest days of the year. It’s not the saddest though. He reserves that spot for January 2nd. I’m not quite as sad as Scott. I do love Autumn. My problem with the shoulder seasons is they’re just too darn short! But look at all we have to look forward to this month. For me, the NFL being back this week is a key highlight. I’m very excited, though I will say, I’m still in baseball mode. The Orioles have made this the most fun season I’ve had in a long time as a fan. You have something to be excited about as well as Win Mr. Froggy’s Cash returns on September 14th. If you haven’t yet registered, you can do that on this website. After you’re registered, sit back and relax. Beginning September 14th, listen for your name to be called in the morning at 9 and 11 then in the afternoon at 2 and 4. If you hear your name called, you have 10 minutes to call us back at 717-633-1077. If you do, you get 100 bucks unless it’s a Thursday when you win 500 dollars! Now that’s something to look forward to… Good luck!

August 21, 2023

The kids are heading back to school and summer is winding down. Maybe this survey was done to make us feel better about summer ending. The survey asked people what was the most frustrating part of summer. The top five answers weren’t really surprising. They are (in order): Mosquitoes (if you’re a magnet like me for those pesky critters, you get this), sweating, excessive heat, humidity and an increased number of people in my usual area. I’m not sure about the last one. Maybe they’re talking about increased traffic(?). Other annoying things about summer on the list are sunburns, higher utility bills and excessive air conditioning. So there you go, those are the things that annoy us about summer. Does that make you feel better about the end of the season being near? I know it doesn’t make me feel any better but I tried (Haha). Though I do love fall, so we can enjoy that for a minute. Stay safe and we’ll talk soon.

August 7, 2023

We hope this writing finds you well and you’re enjoying your summer. For me, it’s going by too quickly, but I say that every summer. It would be shocking if I ever said summer was dragging. Haha. I found this really interesting… There is a new study that found the top country artists that make us feel confident in our own skin. The study looked at the singers who gave fans the biggest boost in confidence when it comes to body image. Researchers polled over 1,000 fans and looked at playlists search terms like “confidence” and “body positivity.” According to the study, the top five artists who make us feel most comfortable in our own skin are: Number 1 is Carrie Underwood. Following Carrie is Shania Twain, Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert and Toby Keith. I like all of those artists so that was good to see. Next time I feel a little down, I’ll listen to one of these five great singers and hopefully it will help. Until next time, stay safe and enjoy!

August 1, 2023

And just like that, the York State Fair comes to an end. We want to thank each and every one of you that came out to support the Froggy Radio Stage. We always say we have the best listeners and you constantly prove us right.

The summer continues to slip by and today we welcome August. Here are a few things to look forward to this month…

In theaters…”Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem,” “Meg 2: The Trench,” “Strays” with Will Ferrell and Jamie Foxx as disgruntled dogs and the DC Comics movie “Blue Beetle.” In sports, the NFL Preseason gets underway and tennis fans have the U.S. Open to look forward to. Finally, the holidays.  International beer day is this Friday. August 12th is Vinyl Record Day, the 13th is Lefthanders Day.  National Rum Day is the 16th and last but certainly not least, August 20th is National Radio Day. Happy August!

July 11, 2023

Are you ready? As of this writing, we are just 10 days away from the York State Fair. It’s one of our busiest and most fun times of the year. We look forward to seeing you July 21st through the 30th. Hopefully you’ll stop out to our Froggy Radio Stage one or more days during the fair run. Who are you most excited to see? If you haven’t checked out the lineup, you can do so on this website foreveryork.com.  The great thing about this year’s line up is we have a little something for everyone. We have some up and comers in Nashville like Shane Profitt, Neon Union, Kolby Cooper, Kylie Morgan and George Birge. We also have some well established artists.  Easton Corbin will be on our stage as well as Tenille Arts, Danielle Bradbury and don’t forget about Dierks Bentley’s 90’s band Hot Country Knights on the Froggy stage before Dierks take to the grandstand stage on July 30th. Two entirely different shows from Dierks on one night! If great local talent is what you’d like to see, we have that as well. Awesome performers like Cody Ross Smith, Grant Bryan, Jake Mach, Nathan Merovich, Gillian Smith, Devon Beck, Dezzie Renae, Bobby Law & The Late Show, Corina Rose, Chasin’ Whiskey and Chris Woodward. Whew! We are so blessed to have such a wide array of local talent. We’re excited. We hope you are too. See you at the fair!

June 19, 2023

It’s vacation time for many of us at Froggy. Larry recently returned from the Bahamas. He had a great time. He was so impressed with the ocean water. I have to agree with him, it is the most beautiful shade of blue. Scott has a busy vacation flying out to the west coast to visit his mom. I know he’s really excited to see her. He then hops on a plane to Nashville to visit and help his daughter move. We’ll miss him while he’s gone but I’m so happy he gets to spend some time with two of the people he loves.

Can you believe the York State Fair is right around the corner? There is so much to look forward to on the big stage and the Froggy stage as well. This year, I think we have a great mix of fantastic local artists, some Nashville newcomers as well as some established artists. We are so ready! We hope to see you there. And if you’re planning a upcoming vacation soon, have a great time, be safe and we will see you soon.

June 1, 2023

The best three months of the year have arrived. Okay, so that’s just our opinion. I’m sure there are those who would disagree but June, July, and August are this morning team’s favorite time of the year. You have much to look forward to in June. If you’re a sports fan, you have the NBA Finals. Golf lovers have the U.S Open and for those who follow tennis, the French Open is happening. June movies include “Spider-Man: Across the Spider Verse,” “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,” “The Flash,” and the final Indiana Jones movie, “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.” Of course we can’t forget dad. Father’s Day is June 18th. Finally, summer officially arrives on the 21st! Hooray!

May 11, 2023

How is your spring going? Ours is going well. We’ve given away thousands of dollars with Win Mr. Froggy’s cash. That always makes us happy. If you’re registered and your name hasn’t been called yet, don’t worry. We still have more weeks to go. Keep listening.

Thank you so much for all your positive feedback on our Froggy Radio Stage line up for this year’s York State Fair. If you haven’t checked out the line up yet, you can check it out on this website (foreveryork.com) and on our social media pages. It’s hard to pick which night we’re most excited for. In addition to some awesome Nashville up and comers, we have some favorites returning and a host of fantastic local talent. It’s a great mix that offers something for almost everyone. The York State fair runs from July 21st to the 30th. We can’t wait to see you.

April 25, 2023

We are now weeks into Win Mr. Froggy’s Cash. We’ve given away thousands of dollars, but don’t worry.  We have thousands more to give away. It’s not too late to register at foreveryork.com. We want you to win a share of $20,000!

If you’re like us and enjoy an occasional nap, we have some news for you. NASA has done a study on  the perfect length of a nap. Researchers found that 26 minutes is the ideal nap time. When you nap for 26 minutes, you’ll be 54% more alert and 34% better at whatever you do next. Why 26 minutes? Well, there is a reason. At 26 minutes, you’re only going through the first two stages of sleep. You’re not entering the other stages which can make you feel groggy or even worse when you wake up. I think I’m going to try this because my naps are usually an hour or two. At what point is a nap not a nap and it’s just sleep?

Keep looking for us this spring on the road. We have lots of appearances coming up and we hope to see you soon!

April 3, 2023

March 27, 2023

March 20, 2023

Happy Spring! We made it. Although, as someone who is not a fan of cold weather AT ALL, I truly can’t complain about this past winter. I do not ever remember a milder winter with next to no snow. I kept waiting to hear of impending snow storms and they just never came. Not a good winter if you like skiing, sledding or ice skating. Looking ahead, there is so much to be excited about in Froggyland. There are so many awesome concerts coming to the area this  spring and summer. Off the top of my head…Morgan Wallen, Dierks Bentley, Tyler Hubbard, Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Zac Brown Band and more. All of these acts will be in our region in the next few months. We are indeed lucky! And of course, if you’re a long time listener, you know spring means winning on Froggy. Lots and lots of winning. Stayed tuned…

March 3, 2023

It’s Morgan Madness time! This is going to be so much fun. If you want to go see Morgan Wallen in Hershey on May 18th, but were unable to score tickets, you’ll want to take part. You’ve probably filled out a March Madness bracket at some point right? Well, this is basically the same concept only with Morgan songs. Just go to foreveryork.com and vote for your favorite Morgan song in each match up. By doing so, you’re qualified to win Morgan Wallen tickets to Hershey. Each time the bracket moves to the next level, we’ll give away another pair of tickets. Winners are completely random so it doesn’t matter which songs you vote for, just vote for your favorite. We want to find out what is truly Froggyland’s favorite Morgan Wallen song and give away tickets to the May 18th show. Go vote now for your chance to win. It’s Morgan Madness on Froggy 107.7!

February 22, 2023

If you’ve listened to us for awhile, you may know I’ve always been a big proponent of a 4 day work week. Though it probably wouldn’t work for us radio folk, I think a 4 day work week has many benefits. And now, I have more evidence to back up that claim. The world’s largest 4-day work week pilot program has wrapped up. 61 companies participated, with nearly 3,000 employees. The companies chose how to structure their week. The only requirement was they could NOT cut salary or benefits. The experiment was a big success. So much so, 92% of the companies that participated, are keeping the 4 day work week. Employees reported many benefits including better sleep, stress levels, personal life and mental health. Employers reported less turnover, fewer sick days, less burnout and were happy with workers’ performances. They also reported revenue stayed broadly the same during the trial period.  With the success of the experiment, could 4 day work weeks become the norm? Time will tell. I’m hoping YES!

February 14, 2023

I’m starting to feel like a broken record BUT, can you believe the temperatures we’re having in February. It’s unbelievable. Now this is the kind of winter I can get behind. I believe January was the third warmest January on record in our area. If we keep this up, some type of record will be broken for February too! Though I’m not a snow lover, I do feel bad for those who love snow, especially the kids. To go outside and not see any snow or remnants of snow this time of year blows my mind. Snow lovers can take heart however, winter isn’t over yet and we’ve had some of our biggest blizzards in March. So maybe? And if you’re like me and you’re looking forward to summer, get ready for some great concerts in our area.  Dierks Bentley and Tyler Hubbard are coming to this year’s York State Fair. Tickets for both shows are on sale at yorkstatefair.com. We will announce the Froggy Stage acts in May. If that’s not enough, Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean are coming to Hershey this summer. Lots to look forward to in Froggyland!

February 1, 2023

Can you believe January is over already?! The month went by so fast. Maybe because it was one of the mildest Januarys on record. Of course, snow lovers aren’t happy but warm weather lovers certainly are excited. Welcome to February, the month of love. Valentine’s Day is coming up so if you have a special someone be thinking about how you want to celebrate. Presidents Day is the 20th and Mardi Gras is the 21st. February is also the month of National Pizza Day, Drink Wine Day, Pancake Day and National Margarita Day.  Good stuff. There are many movies coming out this month including “80 For Brady,” Magic Mike’s Last Dance,” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp.” It’s also a big month for sports. Super Bowl 57 between the Eagles and Chiefs is set for the 12th and the Daytona 500 is February 19th. Larry Rhoten is excited for the upcoming NASCAR season. Why is February better than January? It’s one month closer to spring. Let the countdown begin.

January 18, 2023

How’s your new year going? If you’re a snow lover, you’re probably a little bummed. Snow haters are rejoicing. Can you believe these temperatures we are having in January? So far, it’s one of the warmest Januarys on record. Snow haters shouldn’t get too comfortable though. There’s still plenty of winter left.

Football season is winding down. If, you’re team is still in the playoffs, good luck. I know Larry is getting excited for NASCAR to begin next month. Also in February, the Froggy Nearly-Wed Game. If you’re engaged, or soon to be married, go to foreveryork.com to register. You could win a trip to Nashville to see Shania Twain and Breland. There’s lots to look forward to in the coming weeks. As always, we thank you for listening to Froggy!

November 16, 2022

We have a special contest going on where you and a guest can win a trip to Nashville this New Year’s Eve to see Elle King. Who doesn’t want to go to one of the most happening cities in the country for New Year’s?! It’s the Froggy CMA Week Video Scavenger Hunt. October 3, 2022

I love October! What a great month. Fall is in full swing and with it, so many great events. It’s probably the best time of year for sports lovers. You got the MLB playoffs, the NFL, the NHL season gets underway and the NBA season also starts. There’s something for everyone. The new season for most television shows has begun. We have the beautiful fall colors, pumpkins, bonfires and hoodies. And, OF COURSE, we would never forget Halloween. Halloween is big with our listeners. There are also some lesser known holidays you may be interested in…International Beer and Pizza Day is on the 9th, National No Bra Day is on the 13th, National Cat Day is October 29th and National Text your Ex Day is on the 30th (be careful with that one, haha!). Oh and one other thing, Win Mr. Froggy’s Cash continues. We just keep giving away money. Just the way we like it. So get excited because October is great!

September 22, 2022

Welcome Fall!! We love this time of year. Of course high school, college and NFL football all in full swing. Win Mr. Froggy’s cash is rolling on. We’ve already given away thousands of dollars and we want you to get your share. If you haven’t yet registered, you can still do that at this very website (foreveryork.com). Get ready for some beautiful colors. Fall foliage is about to hit. The site smokymountains.com posts a map each year that shows when it’s expected. Northern states should start to peak in early to mid October. Southern states won’t peak until mid November. The word “fall” comes from an old saying, the “fall of leaves.” A poet in England used it in the 1600’s and it caught on. Americans used it but shortened it to “fall.” And speaking of leaves falling, how many leaves actually fall every year? Tough to know but someone ballparked it anyway. About 200 billion trees, with 200,000 leaves each, so around 40 quadrillion leaves. I wouldn’t use that as fact though. Haha. No matter, enjoy your pumpkin spice, your bonfires, your hoodies and your football.

September 1, 2022

Well, just like we said back on the 1st of June, the last three months were a blur. June, July, and August go by so fast. Welcome September. If you’re a summer lover, you may be a little blue but don’t be! There is so much to look forward to in September. Sports lovers will be happy. There is lots of football…high school, college and the NFL! Tennis fans have the U.S. Open through September 12th.

It also seems every big TV show returns this month. In movies, the live action “Pinocchio” remake hits Disney+, the “Fletch” reboot “Confess, Fletch” is being released as well as “Hocus Pocus 2” being released on September 30th.

There are the holidays too, and not just Labor Day. Beer Lover’s Day is on the 7th, Talk Like a Pirate Day is September 19th, Pepperoni Pizza Day is on the 20th, the first day of fall is the 22nd and the 29th is National Coffee Day.

The best part of September for me…it doesn’t snow. Haha (sorry snow lovers).

August 22, 2022

I say this every year, maybe because I love summer so much, but where does summer go? This year especially, it was a blur. Oh well, I’m ready for fall. I love all things fall…football, hoodies, bonfires, and the beautiful colors. I’ll end there because I’m not the biggest fan of winter. My apologies to all snow lovers.

I saw something you may be interested in, especially since I assume you’re a country music fan. There is a Shania Twain documentary on Netflix that I found very interesting. Even if you know all things Shania, it was interesting to hear her explain her meteoric rise to fame from her perspective. And speaking of Shania, “All Country News” put together a list of the best country songs of the 90’s broken down by each year. Shania Twain’s “You’re Still the One” was named the best song of 1997. I love that song. You forget how many mega hits Shania had until you see the documentary. She was a true trailblazer.

Enjoy the remaining days of summer and we’ll chat again real soon.

June 1, 2022

Welcome June! Now the fun really begins. I love June, July and August. The sun, warmth and everything about summer makes me happy. There is much to look forward to in June. Sports lovers will enjoy the NBA Finals, the Stanley Cup Playoffs are in full swing. In golf, the 122nd U.S. Open starts June 13th and for tennis fans, Wimbledon kicks off June 27th.

In movies, Adam Sandler’s basketball flick “Hustle” premieres on Netflix on June 8th. “Jurassic World:  Dominion” opens June 10th. The big new “Elvis” biopic opens June 24th.

The June holidays include, Father’s Day on the 19th and the first official day of summer is June 21st.  June 14th is Flag Day.

Don’t forget to look for us all over Froggyland this month. There are many appearances scheduled and as always, we’d love to see you. Happy June!

March 18, 2022

Once in awhile, I’ll take a nap. Most times I don’t feel guilty about napping but now I (and every other napper) have validation. Here are some good reasons why naps are good for your health. Napping can charge your brain’s batteries. A NASA study on astronauts found that taking naps improved working memory performance. A separate study found people who took afternoon naps had better mental agility than people who didn’t nap. Napping may also help get you into shape. A recent study found if you’re sleep deprived, you’re more likely to consume sugar, fatty foods and caffeine. Finally, naps could boost your creativity. Researchers found the right side of your brain stays active while napping. That side of the brain is associated with creative tasks. So, if you want to take a nap, go ahead. It’s good for your mind and body. Happy sleeping.

March 1, 2022

We made it to March! There is so much to look forward to this month including the arrival of SPRING! True, it doesn’t arrive until the 20th, but still….Daylight Saving Time starts back up on the 13th so the days will get a little longer and we’ll have more sunshine. March Madness is a couple of weeks away beginning on the 15th. There are a few big movies coming out this month but the biggest is “The Batman” opening this Friday. Bridgerton fans are excited because season 2 hits Netflix on March 25th. St. Patrick’s Day is March 17th and of course we have some fun (made up) holidays coming up as well including….National Cereal Day Day next Monday,.. Ranch Dressing Day (really?!) next Thursday…Crunchy Taco Day the 21st and National Puppy Day is the 23rd. Oh, and did I mention SPRING begins later this month? Haha. Happy March!

February 18, 2022

There are some very excited people in the Froggy studios. NASCAR is back and Larry Rhoten couldn’t be happier. He’s been positively giddy (well as giddy as Larry can be).

We are excited because the amount of concerts coming to the area this summer is astounding. Just take the York State Fair for example. Country music lovers should be pleased. Sam Hunt will kick off the fair on Friday, July 22nd. On Friday, July 29th, Toby Keith takes the stage with special guest Tracy Byrd. Jason Aldean will close out the fair on Sunday, July 31st. Gabby Barrett and Jon Morgan will open that show. Tickets for all three of those shows are on sale now at yorkstatefair.com. Stayed tuned as well to find out who will be on our Froggy Radio Stage this year. We think you will be pleased. Good things are coming Froggyland!

February 8, 2022

Valentine’s Day is coming up quickly. It is on a Monday this year so it’s quite possible it will sneak up on you. Consider this our public service announcement…Don’t forget your special someone. That usually doesn’t go over too well. In a related story, a new poll found the keys to a happy marriage. The number one thing people gave as a top sign of a happy marriage was spending lots of quality time together. The rest of the top five are…taking care of each other wen you’re sick, feeling like you can be yourself with them, encouraging them to pursue their own hobbies and interests and letting them see you at your best and worst. I am surprised that laughing together isn’t in the top 5. I always felt that was important in a relationship. But what do I know?

Football season wraps up this weekend. Who wins the big game? Honestly, I have no idea.  I’m just hoping for a good game. If the playoffs were any indication, it should be competitive. The only good thing about football season ending is we are that much closer to spring. Enjoy the game and, of course, the pizza and wings.

February 1, 2022

I don’t know about you, but I couldn’t be happier January is in the books. The way I look at it, we’re a month closer to spring. February is here and with it, some things we can look forward to, including holidays like Valentine’s Day. Don’t forget your special someone on February 14th. President’s Day is on the 21st and the entire month is Black History Month. Some other days to look forward to include Groundhog Day, Pizza Day on the 9th, Drink Wine Day (like people need a day for that) on the 18th and National Margarita Day is February 22nd.

It’s also a big month in sports. The Super Bowl between the Bengals and Rams is Sunday the 13th. The Daytona 500 is February 20th (Larry is thrilled). And don’t forget the Winter Olympics!

Some new movies are also being released. “Jackass Forever” opens this week. “Marry Me” with Jennifer Lopez opens on the 11th. If you’re into horror movies, the new “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” will be on Netflix February 18th.

See? Lots to take in. Happy February!

January 19, 2022

Here we are…mid January. This is typically a depressing month for many. The holidays are over, the weather is dreary and generally there isn’t much going on. The good news for those who feel blue this time of year is the month is more than half over. Football fans can also take solace in the knowledge that the playoffs are taking place. That gives sports fans something to look forward to on the weekends.

Speaking of January, the first month of 2022, Pinterest is predicting style trends for the year. Based on internal search data, mullets will be big in 2022 along with nightdresses, bedazzled accessories, tooth gems, pearls and high puff hairstyles. It sounds like we may be revisiting the 80’s. I don’t know if that’s good or bad. You be the judge. We will revisit this at the end of the year just to see how right (or wrong) these style predictions are for 2022.

January 4, 2022

Well, we made it. Welcome 2022. Now that the holidays are over, we look forward to all the positive things that will come in the new year. If you listen to our show on a regular basis you know we don’t like to focus on the negative so we will keep it that way in our blog. So in 2022 we look forward to… of course, more great country music on Froggy along with our contests and overall fun. The Winter Olympics begin on February 4th (go Team USA). Lots of anticipated movies are coming out this year including the Top Gun movie and Legally Blonde 3 in May. A new Thor movie is out in July. And, Hocus Pocus 2 is set for release in the fall. If you’re a cookie lover, and who isn’t, there’s a new Girl Scout cookie coming. Adventurefuls are a brownie style cookie with caramel flavored cream. If you’re one of those ambitious people who made a resolution for 2022, good luck. You can do it! Here’s hoping for a better and happy 2022 for us all.

December 13, 2021

Merry Christmas! Yes, it’s getting closer. Here’s a question for you…Are you burned out on holiday cheer? A new study asked people how long they could go between Black Friday into December before they start feeling burned out. More specifically, the study wanted to know when people felt they needed a break from partying and alcohol. What they found was interesting. People in most states are already burned out. For us, in Pennsylvania, today (December 13th) is the burnout date. The state with the most endurance is New Hampshire but even those people are burned out by December 15th. Maybe we all just need to pace ourselves better.

Our annual Toys for Tots wrap up with Meineke is this Friday. We will be at the Rodney Road location (December 17th) from 11am-1pm. Bring your toy or a donation and get a $10 service back from Meineke. We hope to see you there!

December 1, 2021

To quote the song…”It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year.” Welcome December! There is so much to appreciate during the last month of the year. We will start with the obvious, the holidays. Christmas is the big one but not the only big one. Hanukkah has already started and ends next Monday. Some smaller holidays include, National Cookie Day this Saturday. National Ice Cream Day is the 13th. Ugly Sweater Day is the 17th. The first day of winter is December 21st. Finally, we will say goodbye to 2021 on December 31st (New Year’s Eve).

There is also a lot of good action for sports fans. The NFL continues. College football’s bowl games start on the 17th and the MLS Cup final is December 11th.

There are also a ton of big movies on the way. Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story” and “Being the Ricardos” with Nicole Kidman starring as Lucille Ball both come out on the 10th. “Spiderman:  No Way Home” on the 17th and a 4th Matrix movie called “Matrix Resurrections” will be in theaters and HBO Max on the 22nd.

Happy December!

November 17, 2021

It’s hard to believe but Thanksgiving is next week. The holidays are here. As you gather around the family dinner table, take notice if anyone is getting tipsy because two thirds of Americans expect at least one family member will get drunk this year. The most likely culprit is…your drunk uncle. One third of people say an uncle is the most likely to get hammered. Here are some other things that could potentially ruin your Thanksgiving….Topics of discussion at the dinner table. Avoid politics, family gossip and personal drama. Watch the alcohol intake. Nearly half of us expect to drink more at family get togethers than we did at any other social event this year. The number 1 beverage that can ruin a holiday party is a tie between beer and whiskey. Wine is third followed by tequila. Finally, 54% of people said at least one of their family members will probably have to apologize the next day. Haha. These stats crack me up.  Those people that participated in this survey are either incredibly honest or have NO faith in their family members. In another survey, people said they expect to gain 8 pounds over the holiday season. Get out the sweatpants!  Whatever your Thanksgiving plans, we hope you have a happy and safe holiday.

November 9, 2021

I sure can’t complain about this November weather we’ve been having. As I write this, the high today is expected to be 68 with loads of sunshine. I’ll take it. We are inching closer to the holidays. It seems like everyday there’s a new story regarding shortages because of supply chain issues. Those reports may have spurred people to start their holiday shopping early. In a new survey, 37% of people say they’ve started shopping early because of news reports. 15% began buying gifts over the summer. Overall, more than half of people began holiday shopping before Halloween. I am not one of those people. In the same poll, the majority of people (53%) say they will spend the same on gifts this year as they did last year. 29% say the will spend less and 18% will spend more.

Speaking of the holidays, did you get your Jingle Bell Jam tickets? Chris Lane, Priscilla Block and Kameron Marlow will be performing Sunday December 5th. Get your tickets at yorkstatefair.com.

November 2, 2021

November…the month of Thanksgiving. It’s a great time of year. Fall weather is still here and there are lots of activities this month. For you Tiger King fans, Tiger King 2 premieres on Netflix on the 17th. The CMA Awards are the 10th and Scott will be there. You’ll hear live reports from the many artists straight from Nashville. Of course, November is also a big month for holidays. Veterans Day is the 11th. Thanksgiving is the 25th. Those are the big ones but there are also a few more…Saturday is National Nachos Day. November 13th is World Kindness Day, and of course we can’t forgot Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

A reminder that Jingle Bell Jam is quickly approaching on Sunday, December 5th. Chris Lane is the headliner with special guests Priscilla Block and Kameron Marlowe. Get your tickets at yorkstatefair.com.

Happy November Froggyland!

October 26, 2021

Can you believe Halloween is Sunday? How much do you like Halloween? Of course, most kids love it mostly because of all that candy. But what about adults? In a new poll, 23% of people said that Halloween is one of their favorite holidays. 40% of people said they like it…20% said they really don’t like it and 10% said they refuse to celebrate Halloween. Mostly, it’s a young persons holiday. People ages 18-44 were nearly three times more likely to say it’s their favorite than people 65 and older.

Speaking of Halloween, what about the age old question?…How old is too old to go trick or treating? In a new poll, the most popular answer was 12 with 12% of the vote. 13 was next followed by 14, 15 and 16. On the other side of the door, 61% of people say they plan to hand out candy this year. 21% say they’ll pretend not to be home and 10% say they don’t yet know what they’re doing.

Happy Halloween!

October 19, 2021

It’s been a great fall so far…We’ve already given away thousands of dollars with the Froggy Big Money Mystery Ribbit. If you couldn’t tell, we love giving you money! If that wasn’t enough, we just announced Jingle Bell Jam is back this year! We’re pumped. Of course, because of the pandemic, we were unable to jam last year so this year we were determined to bring you an awesome show. We think we’ve succeeded. On December 5th (Sunday) at 7 pm at the York Fairgrounds, Chris Lane headlines JBJ with special guests Priscilla Block and Kameron Marlowe. It’s going to be a great night of country music holiday fun. Of course we couldn’t do these shows without our awesome sponsors. JBJ is sponsored by our friends at All Trans Truck and Trailer Service. Tickets for Jingle Bell Jam go on sale this Friday (10-22) at 9 am at yorkstatefair.org. Hope to see you December 5th at Jingle Bell Jam!

October 7, 2021

I’m in need of some sunshine. The weather this week has been so depressing. I’m over the cloudy, gray and rainy conditions. I am looking forward to Halloween this year. I don’t dress up, but I’ve always enjoyed handing out candy and seeing all the kids costumes. Over the years, those costumes have more elaborate and creative. I’m always worried I won’t have enough candy so I usually buy too much and have a ton leftover. I found it interesting that a third of Americans admit they INTENTIONALLY have bought too much candy so they’d have leftover candy they could eat themselves. That’s exactly why I get rid of that leftover candy immediately. I don’t want to be snacking on leftover candy throughout the month of November. I also try to avoid buying the Halloween candy too early,  I don’t want to be snacking the entire month of October either. Haha. And kids need to protect their candy this year because 53% of parents in a new survey say they plan to steal some of their kid’s haul.

Congratulations to all who have won big bucks playing the Froggy Big Money Mystery Ribbit. We’re having so much fun with this contest. We aren’t done yet! We have more ribbit money to give away, so stayed tuned!

October 1, 2021

Flip that calendar! October is such a great month. As much of a summer lover as I am, October really is one of my favorite months. It’s a sports lovers dream. The MLB playoffs take place with the World Series set for the end of the month. The NFL and college football are in full swing. The NHL season starts on the 12th and the NBA starts a week later on the 19th.

Many television premieres happen this month and a bunch of movies are hitting theaters and streaming services. Some notables include the latest Bond movie “No Time to Die,” “Addams Family 2” and the Sopranos prequel “The Many Saints of Newark.”

Of course we can’t forget Halloween. Some lesser holidays this month include…National No Bra Day on the 13th and Slap Your Annoying Coworker Day on October 23rd. Luckily for them, it falls on a Saturday this year.

Have a blessed and colorful October!

September 28, 2021

September 16, 2021

Just like that…September is more than half over. Though I must say, summer is hanging in there. It’s been a warm month so far. I’m not complaining. Fall officially arrives next Wednesday (September 22). So I guess all the pumpkin spice people can officially claim their season. The margarita people will have to step aside. Someone actually looked at Google Trends stats from the past year to find out which states love pumpkin spice the most. They looked at searches for pumpkin spice products, recipes and news stories. The state where pumpkin spice is the most popular is West Virginia. The least obsessed state is Mississippi. Pennsylvania loves pumpkin spice. We ranked 11th. Maryland is less of a fan ranking 27th.

We are ready to embrace autumn and all that comes with it…football, bonfires, hoodies, Halloween and Thanksgiving. Until we chat again, be safe!

September 1, 2021

Well the day I was not looking forward is here. Not to be overly dramatic, but to me, September 1st always signifies the unofficial end of summer. Yes, I know autumn doesn’t technically arrive until September 22nd, it’s just a psychological thing with me. On the upside, September is really a great month. The weather is typically great and there is so much to look for to, especially if you’re a sports fan. The NFL and college football is back. Tennis fans have the U.S. Open through September 12th. For golf fans, the Ryder Cup starts September 24th. The new TV season also begins for many shows. As far as holidays, we know about Labor Day and the first day of fall, but there are some other holidays to look forward to as well. Beer Lovers Day is on the 7th. Grandparents Day is on the 12th. Scott’s favorite, Talk Like a Pirate Day is September 19th and National Coffee Day is on the 29th. Happy September!

August 26, 2021

We sure do love our pets. Today is National Dog Day. Almost half of Americans (49%) consider themselves a “dog person.” Here are some other dog facts to help you celebrate the day… 68% of dog owners let their dog sleep in bed with them at least once a month. Personally, my dog thinks she owns the bed. I guess that’s my fault for spoiling her but it’s too late now. The damage has been done.  Haha.

79% of women and 67% of men find it attractive when someone is outwardly affectionate toward dogs. A recent survey found all states love dogs but people in California, New York and Washington love them the most. One thing about dogs I didn’t know, just like fingerprints, every dog’s nose print is unique. Finally, 70% of dog owners include their dog’s name when they send out holiday cards. Most of us celebrate our dogs everyday. Let’s face it, we spoil our pets. But today, on National Dog Day, maybe give your pooch an extra treat.

August 20, 2021

Happy Friday! Today is National Radio Day. Obviously, we celebrate this day because where would we be without radio? Well, we’d be unemployed but that’s another story. In honor of this most important day, we have some fun radio facts to share. One in five Americans say listening to the radio is one of the top “little things” they look forward to each day and, in a June poll, radio was the number 1 thing people missed about their commute last year. Half of us sing along to the radio. Personally, I think it’s more than half. 🙂  A recent poll ranked radio as the 11th most important invention of ALL TIME! 31% of dog owners have used the radio to keep their dog company. Finally, a recent study found waking up to music on the radio makes you feel less sluggish than waking up to an alarm. So, in honor of National Radio Day, crank up Froggy and enjoy. Have a great weekend.

August 17, 2021

Preseason football has begun. Though I’m not a huge fan of preseason games, I’m glad football is back, even if it does mean fall is on the way. In the meantime, wedding season is still in full swing. I found it interesting to read this morning that small weddings are trending. I’m a huge fan of smaller, intimate weddings. I especially love barn weddings. I just find them so cozy and special. A new poll of unmarried people found 45% secretly want a small wedding. There are many reasons according to the poll. Some of the reasons given include… Cost (obviously), guests are more likely to mingle and have fun  instead of staying inside their own groups and they’re more intimate. The poll also gave other lesser reasons as well like less pressure when it comes to giving speeches, small weddings are easier to plan and you can spend more time with the people you’re closest to. I think all of that makes such sense but of course there is no right or wrong way to plan your wedding. So if you’re getting married anytime soon, whether it’s a small wedding or a splashy big affair,  plan the ceremony that you and your partner want because it’s YOUR day. And if you’re getting hitched anytime soon…Congratulations!

August 12, 2021

Well here we are, almost halfway through August. Let the back to school shopping begin! This year, the average parent will spend close to 500 dollars on back to school supplies. That’s up 3% from last year. In various surveys, most parents are excited their children are going back to school. That’s probably because almost everyone’s routine was so disrupted last school year. Let’s hope for more normalcy this year.

Speaking of school and learning, someone polled 20,000 Americans and asked what the most useful second language is…the overwhelming answer was Spanish. 61% voted Spanish. Chinese or Mandarin was a distant second and French was third. So there you go….just a little information in case your child was interested in studying a foreign language.

As we approach the weekend, Saturday is National Bowling Day. Just in case you were looking for something to do. I stink at bowling but it sure is fun.

Until next time, stay safe and enjoy the rest of your summer.

August 4, 2021

Happy August! I know I’m a few days behind but time is just jetting. The good news is, if you like summer, there’s plenty of time remaining to get in that vacation or weekend getaway before fall arrives. National Women’s Day is this coming Sunday (August 8th). National Bowling Day is Saturday, August 14th and National Red Wine Day is August 28th. August is also back to school for many students. Here’s hoping this school year is better for kids and parents than last school year.

Thank you to all who came to one or more of our many shows at the York State Fair. It was great to see you and as always, we appreciate your support. We thought the fair was a great time and we’re already looking forward to winding it up next year.

July 27, 2021

I just realized this is the last week of July. Summer needs to slow down. Seriously. We are in York State Fair mode. The first 4 days have been fantastic! All of our radio stage performers have brought their A game. Tonight, we have Elly Cooke on stage at 5;30 followed by Riley Green at 6;30. Looking ahead, tomorrow (Wednesday), we have not 1, not 2, but 3 performers. Kameron Marlowe kicks it off at 4:45. Travis Denning takes over the stage at 5;30 then it’s Jameson Rodgers at 6:30. See you at the fair!

Since we are almost into August, some parents have turned their attention to back to school shopping. A new survey found that, this year, parents are spending an average of 843 dollars per child on back to school shopping. The top three things parents splurge on are…clothes, school supplies and backpacks. It’s hard to believe we’re talking about back to school shopping. Didn’t summer just begin?

July 20, 2021

It’s hard to believe but the York State Fair is just a few days away. This is such an exciting time. You just never know what you have until you don’t have it anymore. That’s the case with the fair. Not having the event last year made us truly realize how much we love and look forward to it each and every year. We kick off our Froggy Radio Stage Friday evening at 6 with Matt Stell. Chase Rice and Jake Owen are on the grandstand. Tickets for that show are still available at yorkstatefair.org. On Saturday, local favorites Austin Poulson and Devon Nickoles will perform on our stage before Morgan Evans takes to the stage at 6:30. We wrap the weekend Sunday with three more performers. RJ Moody begins at 4:45 followed by Chris Bandi at 5:30. Tenille Arts sings at 6:30. Next week all the fun continues with performances by Parmalee, Riley Green, Travis Denning, Jameson Rodgers and more. Remember, all our Froggy Radio Stage shows are free with your price of admission. See you at the fair!

July 16, 2021

Happy Friday! For some reason, and this usually doesn’t happen in the summer, this was a long week. No matter, the weekend is upon us. Do you realize we are one week away from the York State Fair? We are so ready. Since we didn’t have a fair last year, it makes us appreciate it more this year for sure. Besides Jake Owen/Chase Rice, Kane Brown and Alabama on the Grandstand, we have a plethora of great acts on our Froggy Radio Stage. We kick off our stage acts next Friday at 6PM with Matt Stell. Some other acts throughout the run include Morgan Evans, Tenille Arts, Parmalee, Riley Green, Travis Denning, Jameson Rodgers, Runaway June, Joe Nichols and Lainey Wilson. Don’t forget our extremely talented local acts that will also grace our stage. Can you tell we’re pumped? Please come out and see us. It’s been too long. Let’s have a great time at the fair. In the meantime, enjoy your weekend and we’ll chat again next week.

July 13, 2021

We are almost midway through July. Time flies, especially in the summer. We are now less than two weeks away from The York State Fair. We sure hope to see you there!

Today is National French Fry Day. French Fries are the second most popular American dish, behind hamburgers. They are also the number 2 food people can’t live without, second only to pizza. 83% of Americans like French fries, only 4% dislike them, 12% are neutral and the remaining 1% (somehow) don’t know how they feel. When it comes to the style of fries…”regular” is the most popular. The remaining top five are…curly fries, steak-cut, crinkle and waffle fries.

The MLB All Star Game is tonight for you baseball fans. I stayed up late last night to watch the Home Run Derby. I was so excited to cheer on Trey Mancini. He made us Orioles fans very proud. It’s true he lost in the finals to repeat derby champ Pete Alonso (Mets) but Mancini did awesome. If you know his story, you know he is truly an inspiration. Way to go Trey!

Until next time…stay cool.

July 2, 2021

Just like that…June is in the books. The good news is there is so much to look forward to in July. Independence Day weekend kicks it off. Happy Birthday America!

Sports lovers have the NBA finals to look forward to as well as the MLB All Star Game. A UFC rematch for Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier is set for July 10th the same night as the ESPY Awards. The Summer Olympics get started on July 23rd.

Shark week begins on July 11th. Look for Brad Paisley on Shark Week. Brad was put in shark infested waters in the Bahamas and played to see if his music would attract or repel sharks. “Brad Paisley’s Shark Country” will air on Discovery on July 13th.

Besides July 4th, there, of course, are several smaller holidays…Pina Colada Day is July 10th followed by Mojito Day on the 11th. National Ice Cream Day is July 18th, Junk Food Day is the 21st and National Tequila Day is July 24th. Cheers!

June 29, 2021

I can’t believe it! June is almost over. As we said when June began, this month flies by and it certainly did. The good news is we’re less than a month away from the York State Fair! How excited are you? I know we’re ready. We are approaching a big holiday weekend. Barbecues are big on Independence Day weekend. Have you fantasized yet about your ideal barbecue plate? A poll asked 16,000 people how they would pile their plate with both mains and sides. Burgers were number 1 for the mains. They got a 65% approval rating. Hot dogs were next followed by ribs, sausages, chicken wings and pulled pork. As for sides, potato salad rules. That was number one followed by corn on the cob, baked beans, watermelon and chips. Happy barbecuing. If you are spending time with family and friends this weekend, enjoy and be safe.

June 22, 2021

Many of us are really addicted to social media. I mean really addicted. Someone polled a bunch of social media users and asked how much money would someone have to pay you to give up all social media forever? One in five people said they’d need a minimum of 1 million dollars. 1 MILLION! That blows my mind. I’d give it up for a lot less that 1 mill. 70% of people said they would need at least 10K to give up social media. Just to prove my point on how addicted we are to social media, more than 40% of people polled said they’d rather give up their TV, their car and even their pets than never go on social media again. Yikes.

We are about a month away from the York State Fair. If you haven’t yet checked out our line up for the Froggy Radio Stage, you can do so on this very website. We sure hope we see you there for some shows. Let the countdown begin!

June 18, 2021

The weekend is here and it’s time to celebrate! Father’s Day is Sunday. If you’re a dad, have the best day ever. Also Sunday, at 11:32 p.m. it’s the official start of summer. It’s no secret, if you listen to our morning show, that we LOVE summer! A study done in 2011 found we tend to be happier in summer. The study found it’s true by analyzing tweets from 2.4 million people. They say it might be because there’s more sun. Some other summer facts…We will eat around 150 million hot dogs on Fourth of July weekend alone. That’s enough to stretch across the country more than five times. The Eiffel Tower gets six inches taller in summer because the metal expands from the heat. Finally, there are over 300 varieties of watermelon in the world. Hopefully, you have some fun plans for this summer. Enjoy the weekend and Happy Father’s Day to all the great Froggy dads!

June 15, 2021

As predicted, June is cruising by too quickly for our liking. As of this writing, we are at the midway point of the month. This Sunday, we officially welcome summer AND we celebrate dad. Yes, here’s your friendly reminder….Father’s Day is this weekend. Father’s Day is the fourth largest card sending holiday of the year. 87 million cards will be sent. Father’s Day is also one of the most popular holidays to barbeque. July 4th is the top holiday to grill out according to a new poll but Father’s Day, Memorial Day and Labor Day also made the list. The poll also found that if you want to do something nice for your dad Sunday, DON’T offer to help him with the grill. That’s his job. 74% of dads said they don’t want anyone else manning the grill Sunday. They’d rather do it themselves. To all the dads, just know we see and appreciate you! We hope your day Sunday is extra special!

June 11, 2021

The weekend is here! Yay! Though I will say June can slow down any time now. As we always say on the morning show…June, July and August seem to be the three shortest months on the calendar. Enjoy the time while you can. In that spirit, a lifestyle expert has come up with some tips to have a great weekend. We thought we’d pass them along to you. The first thing that is suggested is tough…Avoid work email AND social media. The weekend is a perfect time to disconnect. If that seems like too big of an ask, start with just one of your weekend days. Other ways to make it a great weekend, according to this expert, include spending time with family and friends, spending time outside (provided the weather is nice), exercise and enjoy good food and drinks. Finally, take time for yourself and do something you love to do. Sometimes our hobbies take a backseat to chores, kids and other obligations. Make sure you make at least a little time for yourself. Enjoy your weekend!

June 8, 2021

Happy National Best Friends Day! What would our world be life if we didn’t have our friends? Most of us met our best friend in school. Elementary school and high school are the most popular stages in life to meet our BFF. Only 12% of people said they met their best friend after college or well after high school. When it comes to best friends, can you have more than one? I always believed yes, you can. I think this is especially true as you get older. The survey shows we are pretty split on this issue. 46% of Americans say they only have one best friend. But three out of four people agree it’s possible to have more than one. 19% of people say their dog is their best friend and only 9% said the same about their cats. 43% of people consider their significant other as one of their best friends. Today is a great day to pick up the phone and tell the people in your life how much you appreciate their friendship. And thank you for being our friend!

June 4, 2021

Happy National Donut Day! That’s right, it’s National Donut Day. Donuts may be the one thing that can unify Americans. A whopping 91% of us say we love or like donuts. Only 1% of us hate donuts. When it comes to our favorite type of donut, glazed is number one. The rest of the top five are…Boston cream, chocolate frosted, jelly and chocolate cake donuts. If you want to upgrade your standing with your co-workers, try buying donuts for the office. 51% of us think more highly of people who bring donuts to work.

Though summer isn’t OFFICIALLY here until later this month, it’s going to be very summer like this weekend.  Plenty of sun and temperatures in the 90’s.  It’s a great weekend to hit the beach, lake or pool.  Whatever your plans, make it a great weekend!

June 1, 2021

We made it. June is finally here. Let the summer time fun begin. I know it’s not OFFICIALLY summer yet but for all intents and purposes, we’ll say it is summer. Haha. There is lots to look forward to this month if you’re a sports fan. Of course baseball continues. The NBA and NHL playoffs also continue and for tennis fans like Scott and Larry, Wimbledon starts later this month.

As far as entertainment, America’s Got Talent returns to tv tonight. The Bachelorette returns on June 7th and the new Loki series hits Disney+ on June 9th.

There are plenty of holidays to celebrate. Father’s Day and the first OFFICIAL day of summer both fall on June 20th this year. Some of the lesser known holidays include National Cheese Day and National Donut Day, both this Friday (June 4th). June 14th is Flag Day and National Bourbon Day. National Selfie Day is June 21st and Take Your Dog to Work Day is Friday, June 25th.

If you’re planning your summer vacation this month, enjoy!

May 28, 2021

For many, it’s a 3 day weekend. Memorial Day is Monday. We honor those brave men and women who lost their lives protecting our freedoms. There is no greater sacrifice. In our country’s history, 46 million veterans have served during wartime. About a third of those heroes are still with us. Memorial Day weekend is also the unofficial kickoff of summer. Between this weekend and Labor Day, Americans will consume an average of 818 hot dogs every second. That’s a lot of hot dogs! Memorial day is also a big beer holiday. The only time we buy more beer is July 4th. You will notice I haven’t yet talked about weekend barbeques. That’s because the forecast, as it stands now, stinks quite frankly. We’re expecting a lot of rain and cool temperatures. It’s not the best cookout weather. We’ll make the best of it as we always do in these situations. We’ve been through much worse this past year than a rainy weekend, right? Enjoy your weekend and be safe!

May 25, 2021

Wow! We knew the Froggy Radio Stage announcement Monday would be big, but the response has exceeded our expectations. If you missed it, there are 24 Nashville and local artists performing on our stage over the course of the York State Fair from July 23 – August 1. You can find the full line up on our Froggy Facebook and Instagram pages and on this very website. Froggyland is ready to get out and have some fun. We hear you.  We’re ready too! Who are you most excited to see?

We are approaching Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start of summer. Speaking of summer, don’t miss our summer show this Friday. We’ll be looking for your messages and texts so we can play your favorite summer song. Our summer show is always one of our favorite shows of the year. Until then, make it a fantastic week!

May 21, 2021

Although summer is not officially here, it sure does feel like it has arrived. The hot temperatures will continue into the weekend. Please know, I’m not complaining one bit. I enjoy the warmer weather. If you have plans this weekend, expect temperatures near 90 both Saturday and Sunday.

I am never one to rush a weekend. Generally, I don’t talk about Monday until, well, Monday. I’m going to make an exception because this is BIG! You’ve been calling, texting and messaging us asking if we are going to have a Froggy Stage this year at the York State Fair. The answer is a resounding YES! On Monday morning, the wait is over. At 7:10, we will announce the 2021 York State Fair Froggy Stage line up. I’m not allowed to say too much, but I can say I think you’ll be very pleased.

Speaking of the York State Fair, don’t forget, tickets for the Jake Owen/Chase Rice show go on sale tomorrow (Saturday 05-22) at 10 am at yorkstatefair.org.

Have a great weekend!

May 18, 2021

One of the first things I do each morning is look at my weather app. I just like to see what to expect for the next week, even if I have absolutely no plans. This morning, I noticed that for the next week, temperatures stay in the 80’s. Sunday may even get to 90. Summer (though not officially) is here! I think the beaches will be packed this summer. So many people are ready to get out and enjoy life again. Count me as one of those people.  I can’t wait for that first beach trip. If you’re not a beach person, there are plenty of other ways to enjoy summer….barbeques, picnics, swimming, hiking, biking, the York State Fair….You get the point. It’s just nice to finally have options.

Speaking of the York State Fair, tickets for the Jake Owen/Chase Rice concert on Friday, July 23rd go on sale this Saturday at 10 am. Get them at yorkstatefair.org. Or, win them with us on the morning show.  Be listening for the Quick Quiz at 6:05 for your chance to win. We are also really excited for this year’s Froggy Stage at the fair. We think you’re also going to be pumped! We’ll announce the line up next Monday (May 24th).Stay tuned…..

May 14, 2021

Gas prices are crazy. The hacking of the Colonial Pipeline has created so much panic that folks are actually hoarding gasoline. What a mess! Triple A has put out some tips on how to increase your fuel economy. They suggest you plan your trips. Map out where you need to go so you don’t back track and try to avoid rush hour. Watching your speed will also help. Fuel economy peaks at around 50 miles an hour on most cars then drops off as speed increases. Don’t idle. If you’re stopped for a couple of minutes, it’s best to turn off your car. Finally, maintain your car. Missed oil changes, under inflated tires and a dirty air filter can all lower your fuel economy.

It’s rough now. When I passed a gas station this morning and saw the price (up 10 cents from yesterday), I thought what do I need to sell to fill up? I kid, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t shocked by the prices. But, this too shall pass. Like everything else that has come our way, we will get through this!

Have a great weekend!

May 11, 2021

Tickets are on sale at ticketmaster.com…Or you can win them all this week on the Quick Quiz at 6:05am!

Zac Brown Band is coming to Hersheypark Stadium on August 21st at 7 pm. You can potentially win them by going to our ticket window at foreveryork.com. Tickets go on sale Friday, May 14th at ticketmaster.com.

Don’t forget….we announce our entire lineup of the Froggy Stage at the York State Fair on Monday, May 24th. Get ready!

May 4, 2021

May the fourth be with you! Happy Star Wars Day. Not being a Star Wars fan myself, I don’t really get the significance of having a Star Wars Day, but I give credit to the movie’s legions of fans for getting even us non-fans to recognize the day.

Today is also National Teachers day. All week long, Dunkin’ and Froggy are recognizing a teacher a day for their many contributions to the kids in their classroom. To all the great teachers out there…we thank you.

Sometimes, a story comes along that reaffirms your faith in humanity. As someone who travels to Ocean City, Maryland quite often, I am very familiar with the 90th street bridge. On Sunday, there was a bad wreck on the bridge that sent 8 people to the hospital. A 2 year old girl in a car seat was ejected from one of the vehicles and got thrown into the water. It could have had a very tragic ending. EXCEPT, with no regard for his own safety, a random man at the scene jumped over the guardrail into the bay and saved the child’s life. I would tell you the guy’s name because he is a hero of epic proportions but he wishes to remain anonymous. Yes, there are many good people in the world.

Have a great week!

April 30, 2021

Happy Friday! As April comes to an end, we look forward to May. If you’re a sports fan, there is plenty to look forward to…The Kentucky Derby is tomorrow. The NBA Playoffs are set to begin May 22nd.The NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs start around May 20th. The Indianapolis 500 takes place on May 30th…and of course, MLB continues.

There are plenty of holidays to look forward to as well. The big ones include…Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day on Sunday the 9th, and Memorial Day (the unofficial start of summer) on May 31st. Some of the smaller (made up) holidays in May include…National No Pants Day, National Pizza Party Day, National Talk Like Yoda Day(?) and National Wine Day.

The Froggy Big Money Mystery Clip also continues through May. We’ve already given out thousands of dollars and we want to give out thousands more.

It’s going to be a great month! Have a great weekend and we’ll check in with you again next week.

April 27, 2021

Have you noticed more country artists have been scheduling concerts? It’s great to see. Miranda Lambert did her first concert in over a year last weekend in Texas. She was so moved by being back on stage that she cried. That’s so understandable. Dierks Bentley is putting together another High Times and Hangovers club tour beginning May 11th in South Carolina. And, probably most exciting for Froggyland, Luke Bryan has announced that his rescheduled “Proud to Be Right Here Tour” will kick off July 8th! The second stop….Hershey, PA. That’s right, Luke Bryan is coming to Hersheypark Stadium on Friday, July 9th. Tickets go on sale this Friday at Ticketmaster.com. We are also giving away tickets all this week on the morning show during the Quick Quiz at 6:05. So bone up on your Luke trivia and win those tickets. Things are really looking up! Have a great week.

April 23, 2021

Happy Friday! It’s the day most of us wait for all week. Today is also National Picnic Day. It got me to thinking, it’s been so long since I’ve been on a picnic. The stuff I took for granted before this past year boggles my mind. Simple things like a picnic with friends and family. A new survey shows 94% of Americans like picnics. 5% of people don’t like picnics and 1% said they hate them. Hate is a pretty strong word for a harmless picnic but hey, I don’t judge. The survey also found our favorite places to enjoy a picnic are…a park, by a lake, on a hill, at the beach, and in the backyard. Favorite foods include…. sandwiches, fried chicken, watermelon, potato salad and chips and dip. Maybe, if the weather cooperates, I’ll go out on the deck this weekend, eat a sandwich and call it a picnic. Anything to celebrate SOMETHING, right? Whatever you’re planning for the weekend, have a good one!

April 20, 2021

Did you watch the ACM’s Sunday? We thought the show was good. It’s not totally back to normal but we’re getting closer. At least they were able to have some folks in the audience. Just over 6 million people watched the show. Although that number was down 20% from last fall’s numbers, it still was enough to help give CBS a ratings win for the night. In case you missed it…Luke Bryan won Entertainer of the Year…Thomas Rhett received Male Artist of the Year honors and Maren Morris won Female Artist of the Year.

It’s good to see new country music is coming out soon. Alan Jackson is releasing a new album in May. It’s his first new music in 6 years. Blake Shelton has announced his 12th album “Body Language” is set to be released on May 21st. It includes 12 tracks including the singles “Minimum Wage” and “Happy Anywhere” with Gwen Stefani.

We have more money to give away with the Froggy Big Money Mystery Clip. We’ve already given away thousands but we’re not even close to being finished. Keep listening to win!

Have a great week and as always…thanks for being part of our Froggy family!

April 16, 2021

We made it! Friday is finally here. I’m excited for this weekend. It’s ACM Awards weekend. The show is Sunday night at 8. We know a couple of winners that were announced early. Jimmie Allen and Gabby Barrett won new artists honors. Kane Brown’s “Worldwide Beautiful” was named ACM Video of the Year. We’ll have to wait until Sunday for the other awards. Entertainer of the Year nominees are…Luke Bryan, reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year Eric Church, Thomas Rhett, Chris Stapleton and Luke Combs. That’s some stiff competition. You could really make a case for all the nominees. Female Artist of the Year nominees are…Kelsea Ballerini, Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris, Ashley McBryde and Carly Pearce. Nominees for Male Artist of the year are…Luke Combs, Eric Church, Dierks Bentley, Chris Stapleton and Thomas Rhett. Good luck to all the nominees. In addition to the awards, there will be plenty of performances to enjoy throughout the night. Can you tell we’re excited? If you watch the show, let us know Monday what you thought.

Have a great weekend!

April 13, 2021

Wow! We hope you were able to catch the Froggy Virtual Jam this past Friday. If you did, thank you. We couldn’t have been more pleased. All 16 performers brought it. We had a blast bringing the show to you.

Our well wishes go out to Luke Bryan. Luke posted on social media that he tested positive for Covid-19. He missed Monday’s live episode of American Idol. The good news is Luke says he is doing well.  He is quarantining at home and is hoping to be back at it soon. Speedy recovery Luke!

The 56th annual Academy of Country Music Awards take place this coming Sunday. We already know (due to the early announcement) that Gabby Barrett is the new female artist of the year. Jimmie Allen won best new male artist of the year. Congratulations to both Gabby and Jimmie! We’ll talk more about the ACM’s and the nominees coming up on Friday. Keith Urban and Mickey Guyton will be co-hosting the show with performances scheduled by a host of country stars. It should be an awesome show.

Until we chat again, make it a great week!

April 9, 2021

Stress. Just the word alone makes me tense. As someone who stresses out, this poll spoke to me. It probably will come as no surprise that Friday and Saturday are the least stressful days of the week. Monday was voted as most stressful, followed by Sunday. People were also asked to name the most stressful person in their life. The number 1 answer…your spouse or partner. The rest of the top 5…your boss, your parents, your kids, or another family member. Basically, all those people we spend the most time with. Just take a couple of deep breaths and count to 5.

Sunday is National Pet Day. We LOVE our pets. The most popular pet in America is a dog. 45% of people who own a pet have a dog. Cats are second at 30%. That sounds about right. 3 out of the 4 people on this morning show have a dog. If you’re a pet parent, maybe slip them an extra treat Sunday for their special day.

Enjoy your weekend. See you next week as the Big Money Mystery Clip continues. We’ve already given out thousands of dollars with more to come. We want you to win some cash!

April 6, 2021

We hope you had a nice and blessed Easter. The weather certainly cooperated.

The wait is almost over! We’ve been telling you about our Froggy Virtual jam for some time and this Friday, you’ll see why we’re so excited. Some of the artists performing include: Jon Pardi, Lee Brice, Scotty McCreery, Russell Dickerson, Brothers Osborne, Lauren Alaina, Jimmie Allen, Jordan Davis, Maddie & Tae and so many more. We will also chat with the artists and find out what they’ve been up to the past few months. Join us for the Froggy Virtual Jam…this Friday at 7 PM.

The ACM’s will air live on April 18th. The Academy of Country Music announced 29 artists are set to perform. Some of the performers include: Eric church, Miranda Lambert, Thomas Rhett, Kane Brown, Luke Combs, Carly Pearce, Kenny Chesney, Luke Bryan, Chris Stapleton, Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, Dan & Shay and many more. Keith Urban and Mickey Guyton are hosting. It should be a heck of a show. You’ll be hearing more about the ACM’s in the coming days on our show.

Until next time…enjoy your week and keep smiling.

April 2, 2021

We play short clips of 3 songs, if caller 10 at the play times can tell us the names of the songs and artists in order, they win! The jackpot is progressive so each incorrect answer increases the pot by 100 dollars.

The Froggy Virtual Jam is coming! We have 16 artists lined up for you on Friday, April 9th. If you haven’t yet subscribed to our new Froggy YouTube Channel you can find a link on our website. March 26, 2021

The Big Money Mystery Clip is coming. I hope you heard our big contest announcement Thursday. If not, I’ll fill you in. Beginning Monday, we begin our new contest. It’s similar to the Big Money Mystery Ribbit we’ve played in the past except this time, you need to identify three quick song clips in order to win cash! As incorrect guesses pile up, the cash pot gets larger. We will play 4 times a day, Monday through Friday beginning at 7:10 on the morning show. We will also play previews throughout the day so keep listening. It’s your chance to win hundreds or maybe even thousands of dollars with the Froggy Big Money Mystery Clip. It’s going to be fun!

March 23, 2021

I had to laugh this morning as I was reading over our show prep. One of the headlines was “51% of People Say it Crushes Their Soul Every Time They Get a Work Email.” Talk about dramatic. I’m still laughing about that. I can honestly say, in all my years in the workforce, never has a work email “crushed my soul.” The story went on to say the three top complaints people have about email are…It’s too formal, it makes it hard to figure out what to prioritize, and it makes people feel less connected to their coworkers when they use email.

If you were planning to go see Kenny Chesney’s stadium tour this year, it has been postponed until 2022. The reason is the huge size of the Chillaxification Tour. They would have had to drastically reduce the seating and there were too many variables to overcome. Kenny’s 2022 tour will include the same stadiums, but he’s putting together a completely new show with a new name and line-up and new music. If you want more information hit up KennyChesney.com.

March 19, 2021

Spring arrives tomorrow (Saturday) morning at 5:37! I, for one, could not be happier to usher in the new season. There’s just something about spring that makes me feel hopeful. Here are some ways spring might make you healthier and happier… More sunlight during the day can boost your mood and you may even sleep better being exposed to more sunshine during the day. You can participate in more outdoor activities like walking, gardening, biking etc… Here’s to greener grass, bluer skies and flowers blooming!

If you haven’t yet subscribed to our new Froggy Radio YouTube Channel you may want to do so soon. We’ve been getting great feedback on our Froggy Virtual Jam coming up on Friday, April 9th at 7 PM. March 12, 2021

How have you been enjoying our spring preview? This week has been fantastic. If the weather doesn’t get you ready for spring maybe this will…Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday. I like the longer days so I was not sad when I heard there is a bipartisan bill in the Senate to make Sunday’s time change the final one ever in the country. If this bill becomes a law before November, we will not be changing our clocks in the fall (or ever). If you’re not a fan of Daylight Saving Time consider this…it has been connected to fewer car accidents, fewer robberies, less energy usage and a lower risk for heart attacks and strokes. Who knew? Don’t forget, before you go to bed Saturday night…spring forward.

March 9, 2021

This week is a spring teaser. I love it. The days are also getting longer. Don’t you feel good about spring and summer? I think we will finally be able to get out and do some things. Let’s hope!

The Grammy Awards are coming up on Sunday. There will be performances by a few country artists including Maren Morris and Miranda Lambert. Speaking of Miranda Lambert, her new Casa Rosa Tex-Mex & Cantina in Nashville will be open for business sometime this summer. Miranda is the first female country artist to open a country bar/restaurant on Broadway in music city. Congratulations to her!

We were glad to hear Trisha Yearwood has recovered from Covid-19. She posted the news on social media and gave props to Garth Brooks for sticking by her side through the ordeal. Good news indeed!

Have a great week.

March 5, 2021

Sunday is National Cereal Day. I like cereal but I don’t eat it much. The problem with cereal is the calories are misleading. If you look at the calories per serving you think it’s not too bad. Have you measured a serving size?  It’s a little bigger than a thimble full. Okay, I’m exaggerating (but not by much). One serving of cereal doesn’t fill you up so you end up eating more calories than you had planned. At least that’s been my experience. Maybe I’m just not as disciplined as most.

There are times I’m glad I don’t follow trends. This is one of those times. There’s a new home design trend that has grown the past few years…’open-concept bathrooms.” Yes, it’s just what it sounds like…a bathroom without a door. Really? The toilet and the shower are out in the open. I’m sorry but is nothing sacred anymore? There are times I feel when privacy is absolutely necessary. Going to the bathroom is one of those times. I don’t want to be visiting someone’s house and pass by their bathroom and see someone on the commode. I’ll pass on that trend.

I looked at the extended weather and next week there are a couple of days temperatures will get into the 60’s. Spring is coming! Have a great weekend!

March 2, 2021

We finally made it! March is here. What do we have to look forward to in March? I’m glad you asked. Spring arrives on the 20th! It’s been a long winter for several reasons so it will be nice to see green and the flowers bloom. Speaking of spring, we spring forward on March 14th with daylight savings time. The days will get longer in a good way. March Madness will be back. Last year’s tournament was cancelled for the first time ever since the tournament began. We have some holidays ahead as well, including St. Patrick’s Day on the 17th and Passover begins March 27th. We can’t forget about our made up holidays like National Cereal Day this coming Sunday, National Napping Day on the 15th and National Puppy Day on the 23rd. Yes, there is plenty to look forward to this month. Are you ready? Let’s go!

February 26, 2021

I’m excited. This is our last weekend in February. Monday, we flip the calendar and begin the month of spring. March 1st is also National Peanut Butter Lovers Day. Who doesn’t love peanut butter? The real debate comes when you ask people if the prefer creamy or crunchy? It’s an even split. Half of us like crunchy, half prefer creamy. I’m a crunchy lover myself. People who like creamy peanut butter are likely to describe themselves as early birds and introverts. Crunchy lovers are more likely to be night owls and extroverts and slightly more likely to say they’re optimistic. Speaking of optimistic, I don’t know if it’s the end of February or what, but I’m optimistic for our future. Keep your fingers crossed for a better spring this year than in 2020. Have a great weekend!

February 23, 2021

Do you think Monday’s snow was the last of the season? Nah. I don’t think so. At least the next week or so we should see above average temperatures. That will be a nice break from the cold, ice and snow. I was going to wash my car this weekend but I figured with the snow Monday it would just get all salted up again. At least the inside of my car is clean. According to a new survey, one-third of people say their cars are so full of junk, there’s no room for passengers (haha). 10% of people don’t even remember the last time they cleaned their car. The good news for those folks I guess is very few people see the inside of their car. Maybe we should all do a little spring cleaning inside our car as well as outside. Which reminds me…Spring is less than one month away!

February 19, 2021

When it comes to Americans, I believe there are a few that should be considered national treasures. One is Betty White. She should be protected at all costs! Another is Dolly Parton. Dolly Parton has spent years entertaining us but she’s done so much more. She quietly, without fanfare, helps the world become a better place with her many charitable donations and her calm, soothing manner. Remember last month, a Tennessee State Representative introduced a bill to put a statue of Dolly on the Capitol grounds? Dolly released a statement graciously asking state lawmakers to remove the bill because there are much more important things going on right now. Her statement thanked the lawmakers and said “Given all that is going on in the world right now, I don’t think putting me on a pedestal is appropriate at this time.” She went on to say that somewhere down the road if they feel she still deserves it, she would stand proud on the great State Capitol as a grateful Tennessean. In my opinion, she deserves it. Thank you Dolly for being you!

February 16, 2021

Okay, I’ll say it…I’m so over winter! I’m just done. It means nothing that I say this because it won’t change a thing but at least I get to express my frustration. If you’re like me, and you’re a three season person, hang in there. Spring is coming in a few weeks.

If you haven’t yet given thought about filing your taxes, you may want to start. The IRS has confirmed they will not be extending the filing deadline this year due to the pandemic. The usual April 15th deadline is in place. Speaking of the pandemic, a survey of 2,000 people asked the question… If there was anything you would never do again, even when the pandemic is over?  The top answers were…sharing chapstick, sharing food, trying out make-up samples at stores and making out with strangers. Avoiding those things (except the sharing food) is probably a good thing, pandemic or no pandemic.

Until next time, have a good week and stay safe.

February 12, 2021

Valentine’s weekend is upon us. I’ve never been a big fan. It’s not that I don’t like Valentine’s Day (it’s fine), it was just never very important to me. That being said, I don’t represent all women so don’t forget the one you love this Sunday. Have you ever wondered about the meaning of the different colored heart emojis? Me either, but the website Emojipedia looked into how we use the heart emojis. The five we use the most are the red heart, the double red heart, the purple heart (I use that emoji when I post about the Ravens), the blue heart and the broken heart. What do they mean? The red heart is obvious. The blue heart is considered the most neutral. White hearts are used a lot when talking about someone who passed away. The pink heart with sparkles is used to show affection, appreciation and gratitude. The broken heart emoji is the only emoji that’s used in a negative way. It’s used to convey sadness, discomfort and awkwardness. Whatever your plans are this weekend, make it a safe and happy Valentine’s day…and remember, we love you!

February 9, 2021

Well, football is over for another season. Honestly, I’m grateful they made it through the season. There were times when I wasn’t sure we’d get there. Now we look forward to the Daytona 500 on Sunday. College basketball is fun as well with March Madness right around the corner. Spring training will also be here before you know it. I’m feeling very positive today.

If you want to talk about uniting the country, this may do the job…Today is National Pizza Day! A new survey found almost everyone eats pizza at least once in awhile. 97% of the 6,000 people polled eat pizza. Opinions are divided as to the best type of pizza. Thin crust won but just barely with 31% of the vote. Regular crust came in second with 29% saying it was the best. Deep dish took third with 18%. The poll also looked at our most and least favorite toppings. No big surprises. The favorite toppings include pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms. The least favorite are anchovies, eggplant and artichokes. Whatever your favorite toppings, enjoy a slice or two today. Happy National Pizza Day!

February 5, 2021

It’s a happy and sad weekend for me. Happy because the big game is on Sunday. I’m not a fan of either team so my hope is we see a good game. It’s sad because it’s the last game of the season. Until spring training begins, time is going to drag. Here are some fun facts….Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes was 6 years old when Tom Brady won his first SB. This is Brady’s 10th appearance in the SB. Like him or not, that’s an impressive stat. Kenny Chesney is good friends with Chiefs coach Andy Reid. They met and became friends when Reid coached the Eagles and Kenny did concerts at the stadium. The top foods Americans will eat during the game are…chips and dip, wings, pizza, nachos and cheese and crackers. The top drinks are….soda, beer and iced tea. I really have no prediction for the game. I think the Chiefs are the better team so I give them the edge but you just can never count out Brady. I’ve learned that the hard way. Enjoy the game.

February 2, 2021

That was quite a snowstorm we had. The total accumulation varied depending on where you live but it’s safe to say most of us got a significant amount of snow. I’m happy for the folks that love snow. It’s been a couple of lean years for the snow lovers. For us non-snow lovers, we can take heart in the fact that January is over and we only have a couple of months to go before spring arrives.

Super Bowl 55 is this Sunday. The Chiefs versus the Bucs. Or, as some people put it, Tom Brady versus Patrick Mahomes. I have no favorite. I’m just hoping for a good game. It seems this question is asked every time the Super Bowl comes around…Should the Monday after the game be considered a national holiday? According to the latest survey on the matter, 40% of people said yes. Count me in as one of those folks. If you watch the game, you know what I mean. In a normal year, many of us go to parties and gather with our friends. We eat, drink and stay up late celebrating. It’s tough to get going the next day, especially since it’s a Monday. Okay, maybe I’m reaching in declaring it a national holiday but it would be nice to have the day off after the game.

Until next time, stay safe and warm.

January 29, 2021

This is really the first weekend without football for me to look forward to watching. I woke up this morning trying to plan some fun things to do. I got nothing. I’m starting to get a little antsy staying around the house so much. I’m not complaining. Really, I’m not. I will tell you however, I’m looking forward to the world opening up again. Keep the faith. We’ll get there.

I read earlier this week that saying a bad word or too has some benefits. Really! It’s backed by science.

Experts say swearing can be a sign of intelligence. Don’t ask me how, but these are experts right?! They say people who swear may be more honest. It increases your pain tolerance. It’s a sign of creativity (I always heard the opposite). Finally, throwing expletives is better than throwing punches. Now I’m not encouraging you to go out and unleash a tirade full of expletives BUT if an occasional bad word slips out, don’t be so hard on yourself.

Enjoy your weekend. Hopefully you have something fun planned. We’ll chat again next week.

January 26, 2021

It’s hard to believe but, as of this writing, January is almost over. It seems like yesterday we were wishing each other a Merry Christmas. Isn’t it funny how the older you get, time goes so much quicker? Remember when you were in school and winter seemed like an eternity? That certainly isn’t the case anymore, at least not for me.

Some good news to pass along…Congratulations to Gabby Barrett and her husband (and fellow American Idol contestant) Cade Foehner. They’re the new proud parents of a baby girl. Welcome to the world Baylah May Foehner.

Eric Church has announced he will have new music out in April. It’s a three album, 24 song project called Heart & Soul. The first album called “Heart” will be out April 16th. Only fan club members will have access to the second album “&” then “Soul” will be available to the general public on April 23rd.

Until next time…Stay safe and warm and as always, thank you for listening and being part of our Froggy family.

January 22, 2021

We are on the verge of another weekend and this one bums me out a little. Many people think January is a depressing month. Not me. I always look forward to some great NFL games. Sadly, this is the last weekend of playoff football before the big game. There are two good games Sunday. The NFC Championship game is up first. Tampa Bay is at Green Bay. The Packers look to be the best in the NFC but you can never count out Tom Brady. The AFC Championship game is the one I’m really looking forward to…The Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs. Nothing against the Chiefs but I’m rooting for the Bills. I’d love to see them get another shot at a SB win. It’s been a minute. So after this weekend, I’m going to need a few good shows to binge. I think I’ve watched more TV the past 6 months than other other time in my life. I also think I’ve already watched all the good shows. Haha. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Enjoy your weekend!

January 19, 2021

Today is National Popcorn Day. Who doesn’t love popcorn? You know what I miss? Movie theater popcorn…that’s the best. Speaking of popcorn, did you know there are foods and drinks that can put us in a good mood? According to a new survey, there are also foods that can put us in a bad mood. Sadly, the foods that put us in a bad mood are also the ones many of us enjoy the most. Here are the foods and drinks that put us in a good mood… coffee (yes!), dark chocolate, grapes, berries, yogurt, eggs, salmon, oranges, apples and melons. The top foods and drinks that make us feel bad are sugary snacks, soda, energy drinks, white bread, burgers and pizza. I told you…all the things most of us love. Like everything else, everything in moderation. Have a great week!

January 15, 2021

Another weekend is upon us and I’m looking forward to more football. Even though I’m not a winter person, I don’t mind January so much because I have football. Once that is over, it’s a different story.

I read some encouraging news this morning. In spite of everything going on in the world, 80% of Americans say they feel optimistic about 2021. The top three things that are keeping people’s optimism up are….A hope the pandemic will end this year…The fact that 2020 is over…and…The idea of traveling more this year. If you think about it, it’s really not that surprising that we’re optimistic. We Americans are strong. We’ve been through much in our history and we’ve always persevered. And we will again. Count me in with the 80%. Have a great weekend and we’ll talk again next week.

January 11, 2021

Happy Monday! It certainly is a happy Monday if you’re a Ravens fan. It was a wild football weekend. I don’t know if I should be proud or embarrassed that I watched all 6 games. Haha. Most of the games were good. Of the three local teams of interest, only the Ravens are moving on.  Washington and Pittsburgh were eliminated.

Let’s move on to something else most of us love…dogs. A dog DNA company just released the results of their study on the most popular dog names of last year. For female dogs, the name “Luna” was so big, people picked it almost three times more than the second most popular name, which was Daisy. The most popular name for male dogs last year were Cooper, Milo and Finn.

Since we’re into winter, I check the forecast for the week for any sign of upcoming snow. It looks like, as of now, this week will be warmer than normal. By the end of the week, we may see 50 degrees. Hang in there snow lovers, we have a long way to go before winter is over.

January 7, 2021

Greetings! I think we’re all finally getting back into our routines after the holidays. I don’t know about you, but it took me a couple of days. I have to tell you, I am so geeked out for this weekend. I’m such a big football fan and to have three playoff games on Saturday and three playoff games on Sunday is a sports fan’s dream. It also helps when your team is in the playoffs.

Now that winter is here, we’re probably going to see some bad driving conditions from time to time. A new survey asked people what were their biggest winter driving pet peeves. Some of the more popular answers were…People who don’t take all of the snow off their vehicle…Drivers who tailgate…People who drive with only a peephole to look out of…and…SUV’s that cut in front and throw slush all over your windshield. So, if you want to make your fellow motorists happy, you may want to stay away from some of those practices.

Hopefully, the weather will stay relatively mild and we won’t have to worry about such things. Before you know it, spring will be here (Haha).

January 4, 2021

Welcome to the new year. Yes, we have finally put 2020 behind us and we’re on to 2021. January is typically a fairly quiet month but there are some things to look forward to this month. If you’re a football fan, you’re in heaven. The NFL playoffs start Saturday. Congratulations to the Ravens, Steelers and Washington Football Team fans. Your teams will play the second season. Eagles fans, there’s always next year. The college football championship game between Alabama and Ohio State takes place January 11th…and the Winter X Games start January 29th.

Lots of new TV this month. The Bachelor starts tonight. There is a Walker, Texas Ranger reboot on the CW beginning January 21st. A Tiger Woods documentary airs on HBO this Sunday…and the Grammy Awards are January 31st.

As far as holidays, Martin Luther King Day is January 18th. Holocaust Remembrance Day is January 27th. Some other smaller holidays…National Popcorn Day is January 19th and National Peanut Butter Day is the 24th.

Here’s to a better and brighter 2021!

December 30, 2020

We’re all getting reading to throw 2020 out the door.  Let’s hope for a better 2021. Every year-end we typically get a bunch of best of the year lists. The folks at Gallup did a poll on the most admired men and women of 2020.

The top five most admired men, according to Gallup, are…5. Pope Francis  4. Dr. Anthony Fauci  3. Joe Biden  2. Barack Obama… And the number 1 most admired man in 2020 is Donald Trump.

The top 5 most admired women are…5. Angela Merkel  4. Oprah  3. Melania Trump  2. Kamala Harris… And the number 1 most admired woman of 2020 according to the Gallup poll is Michelle Obama.

On behalf of the entire Scott and Kim morning show team, we’d like to thank you for your continued support in 2020. We can’t wait to spend time with you in 2021.

December 28, 2020

We hope you had a Merry Christmas! Our attention turns now to ushering out 2020 and welcoming 2021. I don’t think many will be sad to see this year go away. Typically, this is a down week. Many businesses are closed between Christmas and New Year’s. If you are one of those that have this week off, enjoy your down time. Is anyone thinking of making a resolution for 2021? I never make New Year’s resolutions and I don’t see any reason for that to change (haha). But if you do, here are some stats…Women’s Day magazine says 77% of people will keep their resolutions for one week, 55% will last a month while 40% will be able to keep theirs for 6 months. Those numbers certainly aren’t horrible. If you are making a resolution, we wish you good luck and Happy New Year.

December 22, 2020

Can you believe it? Just a couple of days until Christmas. I hope you were able to get all your holiday shopping done. Speaking of which, who does more shopping for Christmas presents, men or women? Haha. You probably already know the answer to that question. The average man buys 3 Christmas gifts. The average woman buys 16! AND a whopping 38% percent of men say they only buy 1 gift and that’s for their wife.  25% of men say they are terrible at organizing presents, dinner and other Christmas plans. Okay guys, are you really terrible at doing these things or is it just a good way to get out of doing the work? I kid, I kid. Seriously though, from us to you and your family, have a very Merry Christmas!

December 18, 2020

Let the Christmas countdown begin. As of this writing, we are one week away from Christmas day. That means one more week to get your holiday shopping done. Obviously, online shopping was big this year. If you ordered something online that has not yet arrived, you still have some time. If it does not arrive, consider wrapping a photo of the gift or an IOU. It’s certainly not as good as the real thing but at least the recipient will know their gift is on the way,

Speaking of Christmas, what are the best and worst Christmas dinner foods? According to a new survey, the best are roasted potatoes, mashed potatoes and turkey… the worst are tofu, plantains and turnips. I honestly don’t know anyone who serves tofu, plantains and turnips.

We know the holidays are different this year but the reason for the season remains the same. Merry Christmas!

December 15, 2020

We are SUPER excited about the big snowstorm headed our way!  While YES, we understand why some people might hate snow (we drive to work too), we think seeing the landscape covered in all white might get us even MORE into the holiday season!  Our on-air survey today revealed that about 70% of Froggy listeners are HAPPY this storm is coming!  Even so, if you DO have to drive in this, BE CAREFUL.  We’ll keep you posted on all the in’s and out’s of the storm 24/7!!  Let It Snow Froggyland!

December 11, 2020

The holiday season is upon us and from all of us on the team, we wish you health and happiness now and in the upcoming year. Will anyone be sad to see 2020 go? I really don’t think so. Let’s all hope 2021 is a much better year for all.

Speaking of the holidays, have you finished your Christmas shopping? If not, maybe this will help. A new survey found the worst gifts you can give someone. They include… weird jewelry, scarves, robes, socks, neckties, candles (I disagree with this one; I love getting candles) and coffee mugs. The absolute worst gift though, at least according to this survey, is an ugly Christmas sweater. That, however, is ironic because in a totally separate survey, 96% of single people said ugly Christmas sweaters are a turn on and an ice breaker. Go figure.

As always, we thank you for being part of the Froggy family. We couldn’t do what we do without you. Stay blessed.

July 20, 2020

Some things in the world have stopped. Sadly, domestic violence is not one of those things.  For that reason, we continue the fight against domestic abuse.  We are proud to join the YWCA Hanover for Walk A Mile In Her Shoes 2020.  Yes, this year will be a bit different but what remains the same is ALL proceeds benefit the YWCA Hanover Safe Home Program.  You can join us and our sponsors for a virtual walk on August 14th.  There are several ways you can help.  You can go to the Walk A Mile page at ywcahanover.org to register. You can also go to foreveryork.com and click on our Walk A Mile link.  If you’re just looking to donate, text WAM to 44321.  Thank you to all that make this event a success year after year.  We’ll keep working until domestic abuse is eliminated.

July 10, 2020

We can’t tell you how excited we are to get back out on the road these days!  While they may not be concerts or big gatherings, making appearances at some of our most supportive partners has been so much fun.  It had been too long!  Thanks so much for the kind words concerning our entire 4th of July celebration the fast few weeks.  While the prize package was amazing (worth $1,000 and included a grill and Brantley Gilbert Zoom), we received just as many compliments for our patriotic music last weekend.  While we love the 3 or 4 songs most every station plays over and over during the 4th of July weekend, we were proud to play a much larger variety, and we are so glad you noticed we pulled out some classic USA songs!  And don’t fret, we may be approaching mid Summer, but there is still plenty of fun left on AND off air over the next couple of months.  See you out at a live appearance soon!!

June 10,2020

As we often say, June is ALWAYS the fastest month of the year.  Meaning, you reach June, and then it’s over before you know it!  The GOOD news is that much of Froggyland is going GREEN this Friday, and as we’ve said many times, now that many more things will be open, let’s support local businesses even MORE this Summer.  We need to ensure that they’ll be around forever!  Also, while we don’t want to rush the month, we ARE looking forward to Father’s Day, as Froggy will be giving all area dads a chance at something super cool.  Listen this Friday morning as we give you all the details.  In the meanwhile, keep smiling and looking ahead.  Good times are coming!! :))

May 11, 2020

Hey gang!!  Wow, we can’t believe it’s almost the middle of May and we continue to tread through this very unusual time.  We had so much fun paying your bill over the last five weeks.  Thank you for all the kind words, but at the end of the day, we were SO glad to be able to help!  Hey, at least we got ot enjoy the NFL Draft and schedule within the last week.  And, if you are an Eagles, Steelers, or Ravens fan, the NFL schedule looks pretty forgiving…at this point anyway.  You never know what teams have truly improved though.  So, we shall see!!

April 22, 2020

How amazing has Instagram Island been so far!  Every Tuesday and Thursday night, some of the hottest stars in country music join us split screen on our Instagram Page!  Last night, Russell Dickerson and Dustin Lynch were both incredible…not only in their performances, but in their story-telling as well.  Randy Houser, Cassadee Pope, Tyler Farr, among others are due in the next few weeks.  And how bout landing Phil Vassar!  He will join us May 7th at 7:30 for an extended version of the show!  Unlike the other performers so far, Phil is a veteran of years of hit-making.  It will be a truly amazing night!!

April 14, 2020

The world has been turned upside down seemingly, but always remember, we are here for you 24/7!  Plus, we’ve tried to keep you smiling in so many ways.  The response to our “Let Us Pay Your Bill” campaign has been through the roof.  We felt like we truly needed to help.  And, with the help of some amazing sponsors, we’re thankful we’re able to take the burden of at least one thing off your shoulders.  Plus, Instagram Island on Tuesday and Thursday nights has been a home run so far!  If you haven’t checked it out, make sure you follow us on our Instagram Page today!

February 14, 2020

Welcome to a week of LOVE! That’s right, Valentine’s Day is TODAY!  Don’t forget your special someone. We don’t want you in the doghouse this weekend. Remember, it’s the thought that counts. We have a special Valentine’s week treat for you. How about winning Sam Hunt tickets?! He’s coming to Hersheypark Stadium on Saturday, August 29th with Kip Moore. Tickets for the show are on sale now at ticketmaster.com. Also, tune in Monday at 7:15am to see who is coming to the Majestic Theater In Gettysburg!!

February 3, 2020

I am amazed by the winter we are having. As I write this, we are expecting 60 degree temperatures today…in FEBRUARY! AND, if the groundhog is to be believed (a stretch, I know), we are getting an early spring. I do sympathize with winter lovers. We haven’t got any real snow storms this winter. I’m not complaining, believe me, but it has been a mild winter. If you’re a winter sports lover, you’ve kind of been out of luck. The good news for you winter lovers is you still have almost two months to get that snow you’re wishing for. The good news for winter haters, spring officially arrives in less than two months. In the meantime enjoy February. It is, after all, the month of love.

January 28th, 2020

Well this weekend is it for us football lovers. I think the season went fast! The Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers will play Sunday in Miami to determine the winner of SB LIV. Honestly, I think it will be a good game, even if I don’t have a rooting interest. They’re two quality teams. Even though Americans will eat a record 1.4 billion wings (that’s BILLION with a B), that’s not the most popular SB party food. That honor goes to chips and dip. Wings come in second. That’s followed by pizza, nachos, and cheese and crackers. All healthy stuff (Haha!) If you’re serving drinks this weekend, make sure you have soda on hand. That was the most popular beverage choice followed by beer, iced tea, wine and…whiskey. Enjoy the game!

January 20th, 2020

Hard to believe but we’re past the halfway point in January.  Is it too early to start the spring countdown?  Haha.  January is a very long month for many.  A new survey looked at some of the reasons we feel depressed this time of year.  The top five include…feeling broke after overspending around the holidays, the weather, the nights are too long, a lack of sunshine and the magic of Christmas is over.  The good news is we’re all in this together.  We’ll get through it.  We always do.  Thanks so much for being part of our Froggy family.  You make our January brighter!

January 8th, 2020

Happy New Year 2020!!  Thanks for all the wonderful comments on our Year-End Countdown once again as well.  We have such a blast putting that together each year.  This time of year is always confusing with the calendar and such.  But, it finally feels like a new year!  And while we’ve been playing musical chairs a bit with the show over the past few weeks, we finally feel like we’re back to normal.  AND, starting Monday January 13th, CAN’T BEAT KIM returns for 2020!  Kim went 85-1 in 2019.  How will she do this year?  The rules remain the same for 2020, but we have a neat twist to add beginning Monday.  So, remember, CAN’T BEAT KIM is every weekday at 8:30!  To close, how bout this weather?  55 degrees to kick off the week, major snow squalls and ice mid week, and now 65 this Saturday??  2020 has already been nuts!

September 23rd, 2019

Welcome to fall y’all!  I must say, I think we had a beautiful summer.  As much as I love summer, I do like fall.  The problem with fall is it turns to winter (Haha).  I always think fall (and spring) are too short.  Sometimes it’s like we go straight from summer to winter.  Let’s hope for a nice (long) fall season.  There’s lots to get excited about this season.  The top ten things to look forward to according to a new study are… 1. The change in weather.  2.  Football season is back.  3.  All things pumpkin spice.  4.  The leaves changing colors.  5.  Lower electric bills.  The rest of the top ten are….going apple picking, drinking warm drinks, your favorite TV shows are back, Thanksgiving and wearing sweaters.

The top 5 fall seasonal flavors are cinnamon, pumpkin spice, apple, pecan and maple.

Now with all that information, hopefully you’re now ready to make the transition in autumn. Goodbye summer of 2019.  We will miss you.

August 27th, 2019

Now that most kids are back in school, it’s starting to feel like summer is coming to an end.  That makes me sad.  What doesn’t make me sad is a new student goals survey. It actually gives me hope for our future.  Post-It brand post-it notes asked 1,000 students what their goals are for the upcoming school year.  The number one answer (53%) was to get a 4.0 GPA.  That’s a fantastic and very lofty goal.  I stan that, as the kids say.  The rest of the top five are…get into my top college choice, make myself proud, make my parents proud and have a job lined up after graduating college.  I hope the students aim high and achieve each and every goal they set for themselves.

Just a reminder, the York Fair is quickly approaching.  We sure hope to see you at the Froggy Radio Stage for at least a couple of the shows.  Have a great Labor Day weekend!

August 1st, 2019

What the heck happened to July?  I was just celebrating July 4th, and now we’re into August!  I implore you summer, please slow down.  It’s been a pretty good summer so far, at least weather wise.  We were talking off the air this morning and Larry mentioned the the kids in this area will be going back to school in a couple of weeks.  That just can’t be!  Haha!  I’m a big proponent of starting school the day after Labor Day.  I just think it makes sense.  I know there are good reasons for starting school earlier so since I’m not a student, nor do I have kids, I’ll just mind my own business.  Before you know it, the York Fair will be here and then the holidays.  If you haven’t done anything fun this summer, it’s not too late.  Treat yourself and enjoy August before we are really wondering where summer went!

July 17th, 2019

It’s National Emoji Day (I know, another made up holiday).  It’s hard to remember a time when we DIDN’T use emojis to express ourselves.  There are 2,800 emojis.  Which ones do you use the most?  Facebook studied user profiles to find out the most used emojis.  Number 1 is one I use all the time.  It is the laughing so hard I’m crying emoji.  That’s followed by…the smiling heart-eyes, the kissy face, the birthday cake and the heart.  Besides the laughing so hard I’m crying emoji, I use the birthday cake and the heart.  We all have our favorites.  Over 700 million emojis are used everyday in Facebook posts.  Believe it or not, New Year’s Eve is the biggest day of the year for emojis.  Besides National Emoji Day, it’s also National Hot Dog day.  Enjoy!

July 1st, 2019

And just like that…June is over.  February may have less days, but to me, June is the shortest month of the year.  July is another month that I think goes by in a blink of an eye!  Here’s what you have to look forward to this month…

Some big movies are hitting the theaters including “Spider-Man:Far From Home,” “Lion King,” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”

“Shark Week” starts July 28th.

And of course you have the July holidays including the biggie the 4th.  National French Fry day is July 13th.  National Hot Dog Day is July 17th…and National Ice Cream day is July 21st.  Welcome July!

June 11th, 2019

We celebrate dad this weekend!  Father’s Day is Sunday.  We salute all dads.  Try as you may however, you can’t stay “a cool dad” forever.  Eventually, you will become the “not so cool dad” so just embrace it and let it happen.  In honor of Father’s Day, a new survey asked people for the top signs that you’ve hit “peak dad” status. If you’ve laugh at your own bad jokes, busted out bad dance moves or embarrassed your kids on purpose, you crossed the line into not so cool dad.  Those were the top three answers in the survey.  Other qualities of the not so cool dad are…always manning the grill, constantly doing repairs around the house, getting excited to go to home improvement stores and spending lots of time in “the shed.”  Rounding out the top ten qualities of not so cool dads, they have their own chair, they take mid afternoon naps and they wear cargo shorts.  Of course, this is all in fun.  We think all dads are cool.  Happy Father’s Day to all you cool (and not so cool) dads!

May 31st, 2019

It’s hard to believe May is over, but we flip the calendar tomorrow.  June is my favorite month.  There is so much to look forward to in the coming days.  It is also the month that flies by the quickest, at least it does for me.  Summer officially begins on June 21st.  That’s also the longest day of the year in terms of sunlight.  There are some good movies hitting the theaters in June….X-Men:  Dark Phoenix, Men in Black International, Shaft and Toy Story 4, among others.  For sports fans, the NBA Finals are going on now, the Stanley Cup will be awarded to either the Bruins or Blues and golf fans look forward to the U.S. Open June 13th through the 16th.  Finally, it’s the month of Dad.  Father’s Day is June 16th!  Enjoy it because it will be over before you know it…welcome June!

May 22nd, 2019

We are approaching Memorial Day weekend. For many of us, it’s a three day weekend.  BUT, let’s not forget the real meaning of Memorial Day.  Let’s remember the brave men and women who paid the ultimate price protecting our freedom.  We can’t thank them enough.

It’s a big travel weekend.  It’s estimated a record 42.8 million Americans are planning to travel this weekend.  That’s 1.5 million more than last year.

Memorial Day weekend is also a big grilling occasion.  It’s the third biggest grilling occasion of the year behind July 4th and birthdays.  Many pools will also be opening for the summer this weekend.  Whatever your plans, be safe and give thanks to our brave military men and women.

Technology has certainly made our lives easier over the past couple of decades.  A new survey asked people to name the top inventions from the past 25 years.  Some of the top answers make you wonder what we ever did without them. The number one answer is Wi-Fi.  The internet didn’t qualify for the survey because it’s over 25 years old.  The rest of the top five are…smartphones, online banking, online search engines, like Google and online shopping platforms, like Amazon.  The invention that is near and dear to my heart came in at number 7.  I honestly don’t know how I survived so many years without GPS.  Only those directionally challenged, like myself, understand this.  GPS isn’t perfect but it sure has helped me over the years since it’s inception.  Other inventions in the top ten are…stem cell technology, flat screen TVs, contactless payment (where you just hover your credit card or phone over the machine instead of swiping) and tablet devices.  I can’t wait to see what the next 25 years bring…

May 8th, 2019

Sunday is Mother’s Day (you already knew that).  What you may not know is what mom really wants for her special day.  A new survey asked moms what they want for Mother’s Day.  The number one answer costs no money but is also hard to gift.  37% of those surveyed said what they’d like the most is a good night’s sleep.  26% said they want a day off from parenting to just relax.  A nice dinner date came in a distant third with 13% of the vote.  There’s a good reason moms want sleep, many of them never get enough.  31% of mothers say they can’t remember the last time they got eight hours of sleep.  And three out of four moms say they feel tired ALL the time.  So, if you have access to your mom’s alarm clock, maybe you can shut it off on Sunday and let her sleep in.  Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms!

May 2nd, 2019

I’m going to make beer drinkers all over Froggyland  happy. Not that you need an excuse to have a few cold ones but beer has some potential health benefits.  Here are four ways beer might actually be good for you…It reduces the risk of kidney stones.  Just one beer a day can lower your risk by 41%.  It can help you replenish after a workout. The carbs in the beer are good after you’ve just burned a bunch of calories.  Beer is also good for your bones.  A study at the University of Texas found that an occasional beer can actually increase bone density.  Finally, it might prevent Alzheimer’s.  The science is still out.  But some researchers think trace amounts of aluminum in our body has something to do with Alzheimer’s.  A study out of Spain found two beers a day can limit its ability to damage your brain.  So now when you drink a beer you not only have one excuse, you have four!  Cheers!

April 29th, 2019

I’m the first to admit, I’m not into superhero movies or comic books, though I will say I enjoyed “Aquaman” and “The Black Panther.”  Before this past weekend, I was shocked at the excitement and hype for the opening of “Avengers:  Endgame.”  Did it live up to the hype?  Apparently so.  The movie broke all sorts of records in it’s opening weekend.  It made 350 million in the U.S. and over 1.2 BILLION worldwide.  Most of the reviews by both critics and moviegoers are good.  I’m having a serious case of FOMO.  I probably won’t see it unless I go back and watch the other movies in the series. Here’s a warning, if you have seen the movie, whatever you do, don’t give out spoilers.  A man in Hong Kong learned that lesson the hard way.  He came out of the theater and started telling people in line waiting to see the movie what happens.  Some didn’t take too kindly to the information and beat the man up causing him head injuries.  These comic book people don’t play.  If you go, enjoy the movie.  I’ll live vicariously through you.

April 22nd, 2019

Just after we ate all that Easter candy…we found a new excuse for not working out!  A new study found exercise actually made some people gain weight.  And no, it’s not from packing on muscle (dang!)  A team of researchers in England monitored 40 people after they started working out 3 days a week.  The average person ate more after a workout because they felt like they deserved it.  The average person upped their portion size by about 24% or approximately 150 calories.  Not all of them burned that many calories in their workout .  In the end, they actually gained a little weight.  That being said, exercise also got their heart rate going.  Obviously, it’s still good to exercise.  We just have to be careful about how much we reward ourselves.

April 18th, 2019

Do you have enough “me” time?  The average person says they only get 43 minutes of “me” time a day.  That works out to about five hours a week.  So, what is preventing us from getting more time for ourselves?  According to a new survey, here are the top five things that keep us from enjoying solo relaxation…1.  Too much noise.  2.  Work.  3.  Stressing out over the news.  4.  Your significant other.  5.  Your kids. (I thought that would be number 1)

It’s a holiday weekend.  I hope you get to spend Easter with your family.  Here are some interesting Easter facts…  More than 1 billion Easter eggs are hunted each year in the United States.  Easter is second only to Christmas in candy sales.  Over 16 billion jelly beans will be eaten Sunday.  Have a blessed Easter.

April 15th, 2019

Hopefully your taxes are done.  If not, you may want to look into an extension, quick.  If you would have asked me what the number one thing is that makes us self conscious about our looks, I would have bet weight.  I would be wrong.  A new survey asked people what we worry about as far as our looks go and the number one answer was our teeth.  67% of people say they regularly worry about how they look.  That probably includes having crooked teeth or teeth that aren’t white enough.  Number 2 on the list with 62% was people fretting over their hair.  Weight did make the list at number 3 with 57% of the vote.  Our skin and our clothing round out the top 5.  The survey also found our teeth are the number 1 thing about our appearance that can embarrass us.  Our weight is next followed by our hair.  No worries, you’re all beautiful to us.  Have a great week!

April 11th, 2019

Do you think you’re cleaner or dirtier than the average person?  There’s a new online poll that asked 500,000 people just that.  The poll covered various questions on hygiene and cleanliness.  Some of the results were interesting, to say the least.  The fact that 50% people said that they usually go more than one month before changing their sheets, and 6% said they pretty much never change them, had me convinced I’m definitely cleaner than the average person.  I change my sheets every week.  Really, I thought most people did.  I guess I was way off.  How about washing your hands after you go to the bathroom?  56% said yes, always…41% said they sometimes skip it…and 3% said they RARELY wash their hands (I hope I never shake hands with those people).  The poll takers were also asked how often they take a shower.  The majority (57%) said once a day.  A really clean 7% said twice a day.  BUT…35% said they don’t shower every day and 1% said they don’t even shower every week.  Those are just a few of the surprising results.  Hopefully this survey made you feel better about yourself.

April 8th, 2019

I’m usually tired Monday.  It’s tough going from a normal sleeping pattern on the weekend to getting up at 2 Monday morning.  Today was especially rough because I stayed up to watch the ACM Awards.  I thought the show was pretty good.  I was being generous this morning and gave it a B-.  Scott gave it a C+.  Larry slept through the show so he had no grade (Haha).  Some of the highlights for me were…Luke Combs.  I thought both his solo performance and his performance with Brooks & Dunn were top notch!  Blake Shelton wowed me with his new single “God’s Country.”  I LOVE that song!  I thought Blake sang it with as much passion and feeling as the recording.  I thought all the winners were deserving.  Keith Urban winning Entertainer of the Year was a definite highlight.  He had been overlooked for so long.  It’s nice to see him finally getting some love.  Dan & Shay’s wins were awesome and (almost) made up for them getting shut out at the CMA’s.  What I wasn’t a fan of…snakes.  That creeped me out, and I’m a huge Eric Church fan!  I thought Reba did a respectable job hosting the show.  I have to admit, I nodded off during the Jason Aldean presentation and Chrissy Metz’s performance.  Good thing I had the DVR running and I can go back and catch what I missed.  I hope you enjoyed the show!

April 4th, 2019

Bad moods happen right?  Apparently so and much more than I thought.  Actually, this survey made me feel better about myself.  It found the average person spends one hour and 52 minutes EVERY DAY in a bad mood.  Wow!  That’s a lot of time spent being mad at the world.  Here are some of the things that put us in a bad mood according to the folks that answered the survey…A bad night’s sleep was number 1 (I feel that).  Number 2 (literally) is stepping in dog poop.  The rest of the top five are…getting into an argument with your significant other, feeling sick and your computer has stopped working.  Rounding out the top ten reasons we get in a bad mood are…our significant other is in a bad mood which brings us down, traffic, a bad day at work, misplacing your wallet and no hot water.

No need for you to be in a bad mood because The Froggy Big Money Mystery Ribbit game rolls on.  We tell you the play times shortly after 7 each weekday morning.  It’s your chance to win hundreds, maybe even thousands of dollar from Froggy.  Plus, all winners are in the running for our grand prize, which is a trip to Nashville.  Good luck!

April 1st, 2019

We have flipped the calendar.  Although I could do without the showers this month, I’m glad April is here.  It’s a step closer to warmth and I’m ready to put away the cold winter clothes.  There is much to look forward to this month.  Easter is April 21st.  There are also many smaller (made up) holidays.  National Burrito Day is April 4th.  This one’s a BIGGIE…National Beer Day is Sunday, April 7th.  Celebrate your brothers and/or sisters on April 10th on National Siblings Day.  Wear Pajamas to Work Day is April 16th (does anyone really do this?)  Finally, last but not least, Earth Day is April 22nd.  Welcome April!

March 26th, 2019

Have you ever dated someone and you weren’t sure if you were just dating or if you were in a relationship?  It happens.  What is the cutoff point where you stop dating and you’re now in a relationship?  A new survey found the average is about six weeks in.  It’s tricky though.  You don’t want to rush it because you might scare someone off.  On the other hand, if you wait too long, they may start dating someone else.  Here are some signs that you may be ready to take the plunge to relationship status…If you confide in each other. You’ve stopped dating other people. You told your family about them. They’re all you think about.  You’re constantly talking on the phone or texting.  If these five things apply to you and the person you’re dating, it may be time to up the ante.  Good luck.  Remember what Carrie Underwood says, Love Wins.:)

March 19th, 2019

Today is National Let’s Laugh Day.  I’m one to make fun of all the “holidays” we make up but this is a day I can get behind.  Laughter is good for the soul.  Personally, I don’t think we laugh enough.  A new survey on our laughing habits show only 33% of men and 29% of women say they laugh at least 10 times a day.  We need to up that average.  Here are some other “laugh” statistics….96% of people say they enjoy making others laugh.  95% of us think laughter helps relieve stress (yes!!).  The people who make us laugh the most are our friends, followed by our significant other, our kids, our siblings and out parents.  Enjoy National Let’s Laugh Day and maybe tell a joke or two to celebrate.  Speaking of celebrating, today is the last full day of winter.  Yayyyyy!!!

March 15th, 2019

A recent survey found the average person complains three times a day.  That got me thinking… do I bring that average up?  I probably do.  Sometimes, I probably complain even when I don’t think I’m complaining (Haha).  The survey also looked at what we are complaining about.  The number one thing we complain about is bad customer service.  That’s followed by…telemarketers and robocalls (guilty), people who cut in line, feeling cold (very guilty) and packages or letters that don’t show up on time.  Rounding out the ten top are traffic (yes), trouble connecting to Wi-Fi, littler and people who litter, the weather (guilty), and feeling too hot.  Yes, I’m guilty of complaining about several of these things.  How did you do?

March 12th, 2019

Have you ever left a restaurant in the middle of a meal because of an unpleasant experience?  I was shocked to find out, according to a new survey, one out of four people have done just that.  Many people said cleanliness was the main issue.  The survey of 2,000 people found the top five things that can ruin a dining experience.  Number one is a foul or unpleasant smell (Yeah, that’s pretty gross).  The rest of the top five are… dirty or sticky floors, dirty plates, glasses or silverware, a sticky table, and rude or slow service.  I guess we’ve all had unpleasant dining experiences, but it must be pretty bad to leave in the middle of a meal.

Just a reminder, not that I’m counting down or anything, spring arrives next week! 🙂

March 7th, 2019

For wine lovers, wine o’clock can be almost anytime, but what is the real wine o’clock?  A winemaker in California wanted to know so he commissioned a survey to find out when the best time is to crack open a bottle and start drinking.  The answer they came up with is precisely 6:59 P.M.  The survey also asked people to name the top “little pleasures” in life.  Besides drinking wine, the list includes… being able to hang out on the couch and watch TV, a home cooked meal, shopping for yourself (that wouldn’t be on my list, I hate shopping!), reading a book and indulging in dessert.  The rest of the top ten are… date nights, going to happy hour with your friends, a leisurely walk, fresh sheets on your bed and getting a massage.  It seems like a fairly legit list.  Here’s hoping you experience an abundance of life’s little pleasures.

March 5th, 2019

Salty or sweet? Americans love to snack.  We really didn’t need a new survey to tell us that, but the survey did reveal some interesting facts.  The most surprising, at least to me, is salty snacks , like potato chips and peanuts are our favorite snack food.  Cheesy or spicy snacks are next followed by sweet snacks like cookies or candy.  You mean to tell me cheesy or spicy snacks beat sweet snacks?!  Who is taking these surveys?  The survey also found if we need to grab a snack to bring to a friend’s house, one in four people say they’d bring popcorn.  I love popcorn but I would have thought chips or pretzels would have been the top answer.  And finally, the not so shocking statistic, two-thirds of us buy snacks at least once a week.  And almost all of us buy snacks at least once a month.  Happy snacking!

March 1st, 2019

We made it to March!  I know, some of our biggest snow storms have happened in March and it’s typically a transitional month BUT there are many things to look forward to this month.  Here are five things that may get you excited for the month ahead…Spring begins.  Kiss winter goodbye on March 20th.  Daylight Saving Time begins on March 10th.  Even though we lose an hour of sleep that night, it will stay lighter longer.  Now the next two reasons to love March are for sports fans.  March Madness gets underway.  This year’s tournament begins on March 19th.  If you’re not into college basketball, how about baseball?  The MLB’s opening day is March 28th.  Finally, for you party lovers and the Irish or Irish at heart, St. Patrick’s Day is March 17th.  It falls on a Sunday this year so you may want to consider a vacation day Monday (Haha).  Here’s hoping this month treats you well.  Welcome March!

February 22nd, 2019

Look at that calendar!  We are one week away from March!  The month where we welcome spring.  I am so ready.  I’m going to temper my excitement however, knowing that some of our our biggest snowstorms come in March.  I hope not this year.  I have to be honest, I am so tired of precipitation of all kinds.  The past year, I’ve seen enough rain (especially rain), snow and sleet to last me a lifetime.  If karma is real, we are due a beautiful spring and summer because last year’s were crappy for sure.  Bring it!  I’m ready!

I bet this snowplow driver in Nebraska is looking forward to spring.  The city of Lincoln got about seven inches of snow recently.  Now city officials are investigating how a plow driver took out 30 blocks worth of mailboxes.  Not 30 mailboxes, 30 BLOCKS OF MAILBOXES!  The city will have to cover the expense of the mailboxes if they find the driver was negligent.

February 18th, 2019

In the interest of full disclosure, I’m an animal lover.  I have a dog and I’m a big proponent of the joy pets can bring.  However, I did not make this up.  Here are four ways having pets improve your life, and it’s backed by science. 1.  They relieve stress.  Studies have shown just petting your dog or cat lowers your blood pressure and relieves stress.  2.  Pets help us raise healthier, happier kids.  Kids who grow up with pets in the house tend to have less anxiety, higher self esteem and better social skills.  3.  They encourage us to be more social.  Dog owners are five times more likely to know their neighbors than people who don’t own dogs.  And finally…4.  They’re good for your heart.  Dog owners walk a lot more than people who don’t have dogs.  A recent study also found that any type of pet can help if you’ve had a heart attack.

In the interest of fairness, it’s important to realize all pets are a commitment that should be taken seriously.  If you don’t have the time to properly care for one, it’s best not to get a pet.  Also, one dog or cat can cost you hundreds or even thousands of dollars a year.  They’re not cheap.  But in my humble opinion, TOTALLY worth it.:)
