Each year, WYCR Rocky 98.5 joins New Hope Ministries, a local non-profit charity, to promote the Feed-A-Friend marathon in early December. The purpose of this mission is to provide area residents with food over the holiday season.
Throughout the last weekend of October and first two weekends in November, Rocky 98.5 personalities (Joe Black, TJ McVay, and Bill O’Brien) visited local Weis locations for two hour broadcasts to collect both food and monetary donations. This was the fourth year of doing Feed-a-Friend and each year, it continues to gain more momentum.
On Saturday, November 14th, Rocky 98.5 staff members including Jeff Naugle (Program Director), Bill O’Brien (Afternoon On-Air Personality), Linda Propheter (General Sales Manager), Cortney Shupe (Local Sales Manager), Danielle Christopher (Account Executive), Jenn Williams (Account Executive), and Audrey Clabaugh (Account Executive) visited New Hope Ministries at their Hanover location to drop off the food that was collected. In total, 1,549 pounds of food and $1,134.05 were donated to the Feed-a-Friend drive. Jeff Naugle says he was surprised at how many people turned up this year. With the way this year has been, it was great to see all those that stepped forward, to help those in need, right here in our area.
